Summary of Job Duties:
Quality candidates should be able to teach a wide range of courses in our undergraduate curriculum. An ideal candidate will be able to teach any of the required courses in our undergraduate programs, especially Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police and Society, Corrections, and/or Crime and Behavior, along with other elective courses in the undergraduate curriculum. This position is a nine-month tenure-track contract that includes teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
Candidates are expected to (1) work positively with students, staff, faculty, and the community, (2) teach a variety of online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes in the undergraduate program, (3) conduct research and publish scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, and (4) serve the department, the university, and the community. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience
- PhD (or completed all PhD requirements before employment commences) in Criminology; Criminal Justice, or a closely related field;
- A JD is not sufficient for this position and will not be considered.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Teaching experience in multiple modalities (in person, hybrid, online);
- A research agenda that allows for publication and funding;
- Experience working on and preparing funded research projects;
- Experience mentoring or supervising graduate students.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach online or face-to-face formats at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral level;
- Work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community;
- Mentor students across the curriculum;
- Conduct and disseminate scholarly research;
- Serve the department, the university, and the community;
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Commitment to teaching and mentoring students;
- Willingness to teach in both online and face-to-face formats;
- Active research agenda in Criminology or Criminal Justice.
