Job description

The Refugee Services Department supports government approved refugees in achieving stability and self sufficiency through cultural orientation, case management, employment support, family reunification, referrals, and community integration services.
Interns serve as Social Work Generalists and gain hands on experience across multiple areas of refugee resettlement. All client facing tasks are completed under the supervision of a case manager or program supervisor, ensuring structured guidance, professional mentorship, and meaningful real-world experience in social services and refugee resettlement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  • Case Management Support: Assisting with client intakes and needs assessments. Maintaining accurate client files. Supporting service planning and follow up documentation.
  • Employment Services: Supporting job readiness activities (resumes, interview prep). Assisting with job searches and applications. Helping coordinate job placements.
  • Case Aide Support: Completing data entry in Client Track/RMS. Preparing client files and required documentation. Providing administrative and logistical support.
  • Client Engagement: Communicating with clients in a culturally sensitive manner. Assisting with interpretation when applicable. Supporting cultural orientation sessions.
  • Learning Activities: Learning refugee resettlement processes and compliance. Developing documentation and data management skills. Participating in trainings and professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate or undergraduate student in Social Work or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Administrative and computer skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work onsite (no remote option)
  • Bilingual skills (optional)
  • Ability to document case notes under supervision.
  • Ability to support group and individual orientations.
