EWTN's 11 networks broadcast in multiple languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week to over 265 million television households in more than 145 countries and territories. EWTN services include direct broadcast satellite television and radio; AM & FM radio networks transmitted through SIRIUS/XM, iHeart Radio, and over 500 domestic and international radio radio affiliates; a worldwide shortwave radio service; the largest Catholic website in the U.S.; electronic and print news services, including "The National Catholic Register" newspaper, and two global wire services; as well as a publishing arm.

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Information Services, the Senior Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the operation, integrity, and security of EWTN's Data Center, including the Server Farm, and the Enterprise Storage Facilities. This position also assists in the on-going day-to-day operations of the Information Services Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will be responsible to report on network performance, connectivity issues, and hardware issues in order to make recommendations for any necessary improvements.
Responsible to ensure entire server farm and storage facilities are kept up to date by best practices. This includes: operating system upgrades and patches, 3rd party software patches, SQL upgrades and patches, firmware updates, and security patches.
Analyzing network connectivity specifications by conferring with other departments; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements with the ability to present this information to the Director of Information Services.
Optimizes network performance by network monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, and troubleshooting network problems such as utilization, throughput, and latency. Ability to escalate problems to vendor as needed.
Maintains a secured network by following established IS Policies and Procedures and alert to the Director any violations (includes confidential information only known to the IS Administrative staff).
Maintain the Microsoft Exchange Environment along with the Archival Storage Facility.
Keeps the IS Support Center updated on any changes or upgrades to the network environment which would involve the user environment.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; and participating in professional organizations.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Accomplishes departmental goals by accepting ownership of tasks at hand in order to maintain the highest quality network for EWTN.
Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Information Services.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:


Minimum of 5 years' experience with Server hardware and software installation and maintenance within an enterprise environment (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies)
Minimum of 3 years' experience with Microsoft Exchange 2010 within an enterprise environment.
Expert Knowledge maintaining an Enterprise storage platforms.
Strong experience with Tape Libraries and Tape Drives in both SCSI and SAN environments with enterprise experience utilizing Backup software such as Symantec.
Experience with hardware clustering and virtualization including Hyper-V and/or VMWare would be helpful.
Expert knowledge of server hardware, software, their configurations and industry best practices for security and PCI.
Experience working with VOIP technology would be helpful.
Must be up to date on Industry Best Practices, Security, and threat protection within the networking environment.
Problem solving: Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully, and develops alternative solutions.
Oral Communication skills; must be able to speak clearly and persuasively and have the ability to listen and obtain clarification. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
Written Communications: Ability to write clear and informative instructions and also be able to read and interpret written instructions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
Adheres to policies and procedures and supports Network goals and values.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
Adapts to changes in the work environment; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Follows instructions, responds to direction and takes responsibility for own actions.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Associates' degree with 5 years' Network and Systems Administrator experience in an enterprise Data center environment.
