Producer, News Nightly
Location: Washington, DC (Not Remote-Eligible)
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:
As the Producer, you will work with the News Nightly editorial team to produce content and fulfill other responsibilities with a strict deadline to produce a quality daily newscast.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Produce discussion segments on national/international pro-life news from a Catholic perspective, including writing news stories.
  • Communicate with the Executive Producer, Host, and other editorial staff about guests, includes conducting extensive research on potential discussion questions.
  • Pitch original content stories that would make good discussion or news segments based on current affairs.
  • Choose videos, sound bites, and still photos to be included in the broadcast.
  • Collaborate with pre- and post-production team members to produce editorially sound and visually appealing broadcasts that meet EWTN and Industry standards.
  • Support the additional weekly shows produced from the DC office, as necessary.

ABOUT YOU:
  • You have 3-5 years prior experience working in TV broadcast production/programming, preferably in a local or national newsroom environment.
  • Excellent broadcast writing skills; able to consistently demonstrate solid news judgment and a meticulous level of attention to detail.
  • A passion for EWTN's mission with a demonstrated understanding of the Catholic faith and how it relates to the programming goals of the network.
  • A strong understanding of local, national, and international news, as well as key life issues relevant to EWTN's Global Catholic audience.
  • Able to communicate clearly with control room staff and remote reporters/guests; successfully troubleshoot and resolve any issues as they arise.
  • Fluent on a wide variety of social media platforms; able to grasp new concepts and adapt to changing priorities quickly.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends/nights when required (minimal).
  • Able to work independently and proactively with minimum supervision; strong team-player mentality in order to foster a collaborative environment for the team and across shows.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual; proficient in reading/writing/speaking in any language(s) in addition to English; strongly prefer Spanish and/or Italian.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using broadcast software programs, preferably ENPS or iNews.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field is strongly preferred.
