Director of Finance

St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System is seeking a strategic and experienced leader for the role of Director of Finance

Application Requirements: Interested candidates must submit a resume and cover letter as part of their application. The cover letter should clearly outline relevant experiences and interest in the Director of Finance position. Please ensure all documents are included to be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning: Develop long-range financial plans (3-5 years) for system sustainability, including cash flow management.

Accounting Oversight: Oversee manager who manages the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Payroll. Ensure staff training and compliance with federal, state, diocesan, and industry standards.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements per GAAP for administration, the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees, the Corporate Board, and the Diocese of Green Bay.
  • Complete Foundation Accounting and Financial Reporting.
  • Facilitate annual financial audits and prepare necessary work papers and financial statements.

Budget Management:

  • Develop annual enrollment projects and evaluate and propose annual tuition rates.
  • Develop annual operating and capital budgets, including adjustments for WPCP and SNSP.
  • Counsel system leadership to ensure compliance with the annual budget.
  • Approve Capital Expenditures and develop the 5-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP)

Food Service Management: Oversee the food service program including managing vendor contracts, compliance with DPI reporting requirements, and Free and Reduced lunch Program from DPI.

Banking Relations: Manage system banking relationships, including cash management and financing needs. Create investment strategies to grow system investment income while maintaining security of funds.

Parish Relationships: Build and maintain Parish relationships with Business Managers through monthly meetings, calculate annual investments (subsidy payments), and participate in Pastoral meetings.

Scholarship Administration: Manage the process for determining needs-based and Angel Fund scholarships to ensure affordability for families.

Supervision: Lead and manage the performance of Accounting Manager, and the Accounting team

Fiduciary responsibility: Ensure proper use of resources and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive management/leadership experience.
  • Private school and non-profit experience preferred.
  • Experience in senior-level accounting or management.
  • Strategic planning oversight and reporting
