Digital Platform Specialist

Responsibilities Include:

To lead and assist in the development of our aftermarket sales capabilities on Salesforce. This includes defining the business processes, applications, development, data integrations, and technology needed in response to the changing business needs. This position will focus on the technical and development of building Salesforce capabilities. In addition, the candidate will build the documentation and update governance and business processes of this role.

Job Duties:

This position leads the discussion for developing Salesforce capabilities for Caterpillar and Dealer aftermarket sales teams. This person will have a strong technical knowledge and working acumen in Salesforce. The Digital Platform Specialist primary role would be in the detail development of Salesforce capabilities, process development, and playbook creation. Key areas of accountability include leading detailed development meetings to integrate and build Caterpillar Services Marketing and Sales capabilities; provide input and build the business processes and platform playbook; act as a researcher and evaluator of new capabilities, information, or integration enhancements.

Responsibilities include one or more of the following:

  • Global intake for Caterpillar Business Units using the Salesforce Ecosystem for their aftermarket field sales personnel – specifically CISD, RISD, & E+T Services Teams. Includes coordination and facilitation of regular intake/status discussions with business unit personnel.
  • Global user account requests – validating, adding and troubleshooting users for Aftermarket Dealer Marketing & Sales Lead Communities as well as Prime Product Plus Sales Lead Community
  • Register, document, and triage business requirements in order to develop technical solutions to improve field team’s Salesforce environment.
  • Perform Salesforce development using citizen developer privileges, where and when possible.
  • Presenting business requirements to development teams for solution design.
  • Ensure business requirements are clear for development – reviewing user stories, meeting with developers, getting business clarification as needed. Follow-up with Business Units, organize requests, engage Product Owners & Subject Matter Experts, when necessary.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (acting on behalf of the BUs) for aftermarket requests.
  • Report/dashboard development for global vertical teams
  • Mentoring and onboarding new Super Users to CRM

Typical internal customers include employees within multiple business processes or functions including multiple Business Units, DSDs, Industry Groups and Divisions. Additionally, this person will have direct relationships with varying levels of management - from IT Developers to Aftermarket Services Sales Managers and Directors. External contacts include various agencies, consulting companies who offer services related to the platform.

The position is challenged to build and execute the project roadmap and assist Salesforce Product Owners and Business Analysts in meeting the enterprises business requirements. Strong platform knowledge and strong technical skills will be needed to be successful in this role. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action with oversight as appropriate, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. Communications will be needed to develop business needs is critical to ensure solutions can be created to meet strategic business capability needs.

A typical day for this "Aftermarket Super User" position will include a mix of the following:

  • Meeting with internal business unit customers to understand new requirements for enhancements or fixes to the current Salesforce Sales Cloud environment.
  • Meeting with business analysts, product owners and developers to ensure requirement are understood.
  • Triaging questions, finding answers and resolving questions from system users
  • Minor development activities
  • Reporting - setup, Q&A, etc..
  • User account administration within Salesforce.

Candidates can be 100% remote, or can sit in either Peoria or Chicago. Additionally, the position requires work hour flexibility to work with global teams. While not required each and every week, there will be times when flexibility is required to meet with Asia Pacific and/or European/Middle Eastern business partners.

Education:

This position requires an accredited, four-year Marketing, Business, or Technology degree, a closely related technical degree, or equivalent experience plus 2-4 exp. No degree with additional 6+ years exp.
