Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.
As an Operations Automation Technician, you will be responsible for supporting multiple robotic and automated systems and leads projects for the operations management team.
Additional Information:
  • This role is located in Miami Lakes, FL and does not offer relocation.
  • Shifts available include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift, Monday-Friday. As part of supporting a 24/7 operation, this role also includes occasional on-call coverage during off-hours and weekends for urgent needs, along with flexibility to help cover other shifts during planned absences.
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules
  • This role requires up to 10% domestic travel

What You Will Do:
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair robotic, mechanical, electrical, and automated systems-including software and hardware components like HMIs, WCS, and PLCs-while logging all maintenance activities.

  • Perform assigned warehouse operations tasks as needed, including but not limited to grief resolution, order filling, and put away into automated systems

  • Perform diagnostics, manage spare parts inventory, and maintain accurate records of tools and equipment to support efficient repair and maintenance operations.

  • Generate and maintain daily reports on system performance, downtime incidents, and maintenance activities to support operational visibility and continuous improvement.

  • Train end users on automation systems and applications to ensure proper usage and routine operation.

  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, IT, and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues, implement improvements, and support system upgrades or redesigns.

  • Follow established safety, quality, and maintenance protocols, including compliance with hazardous materials handling and ergonomic standards.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):
  • Industrial Automation/Automatic Control: Knowledge of various industrial automatic control systems, processes and methodologies in a manufacturing environment; ability to design, implement and maintain automatic production systems/processes to improve productivity and efficiency, as well as minimize human intervention.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Robotics/Computer Controlled Machinery: Knowledge of robotics technologies and computer-controlled machinery; ability to implement and operate robotics and computer-controlled machinery in an automated manufacturing environment.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.

  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Knowledge of techniques and processes of robotic process automation (RPA); ability to develop and deploy RPA solutions in various industries.

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):
  • 2+ years of experience with at least three of the following areas: autonomous vehicles, automated storage and retrieval systems, robotics, advanced battery technology, Automated conveyor systems, Lidar systems and Dematic DIQ system.

  • A background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations with an understanding of Warehouse Operations and Warehouse Management Systems

  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Proficiency in English as well as the local language where the engineer is based.

  • Must possess strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to effectively work across functions.

Summary Pay Range:
$28.70 - $43.10
