The IT Business Analyst partners with cross-functional Agile teams and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and refine requirements within iterative delivery frameworks. This role translates business needs into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria, supports sprint-based delivery of Cass solutions, and leverages agentic AI tools to accelerate requirements analysis, data interpretation, and documentation workflows.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Evaluates business requests to determine feasibility within Agile delivery cycles; researches and identifies options that best serve business needs using data-driven analysis and AI-enabled research tools.
  • Conducts gap analysis between existing business systems and evolving customer requirements, informing backlog prioritization and sprint planning decisions.
  • Collaborates with Product Owners, System Architects, and Agile development teams to refine epics into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Authors and maintains Agile artifacts including user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional and technical specifications, leveraging AI-assisted documentation tools where appropriate.
  • Compiles, analyzes and interprets complex data using a combination of AI-powered analytics and traditional tools to identify trends; troubleshoot issues, and informs product decisions.
  • Collaborates with Product Owners and stakeholders to define product vision, sprint goals, and release-level deliverables that support desired business outcomes.
  • Supports sprint planning by preparing refined user stories, story maps, and release communication documents for iterative solution delivery.
  • Proactively identifies cross-team dependencies and impediments, escalating risks during standups and sprint planning to maintain delivery velocity.
  • Defines acceptance criteria, creates behavior-driven test scenarios, and performs sprint-level acceptance testing (UAT) for product increments.
  • Supports continuous improvement by contributing insights from sprint retrospectives and identifying opportunities for workflow automation.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to translate business needs into well-structured user stories, acceptance criteria, and viable Agile solutions.
  • Experience conducting requirements analysis within Agile frameworks, translating stakeholder needs into user stories, story maps, and functional specifications for cross-functional teams.
  • Experience querying relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server) and utilizing modern analytics or AI-enabled data analysis tools to extract data for data analysis and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Proficient with Agile collaboration tools (e.g. Azure DevOps) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience utilizing agentic AI tools (e.g., AI copilots, intelligent document analysis, automated data extraction) to accelerate requirements gathering, data analysis, and documentation tasks.
  • Previous active participation in Agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Foundational understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and how they integrate with Agile BA workflows.
  • Familiarity with Agile estimation techniques (story points, planning poker) and backlog management practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative setting.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, iterative Agile environments with shifting priorities and sprint-based timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and stakeholders at all levels, facilitating alignment across Agile teams.

MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-3 years of direct work experience in a Business Analyst or similar capacity, with exposure to Agile delivery environments preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), IIBA Agile Analysis Certification (AAC), or equivalent Agile certification preferred.
