Job description

If you're looking for a long-term career, not just a job, this is an opportunity to join a highly respected Baton Rouge law firm known for its stability, strong team culture, and long-tenured employees. Many members of this team have been with the firm for 10+ years, which speaks volumes about the environment and leadership.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, as well as someone with legal or administrative experience who enjoys being part of a highly organized, detail-driven team.

You do not need prior legal experience - what matters most is your work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to doing things the right way.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This is a true career path, not a stepping stone. You'll be trained, supported, and given the opportunity to grow into a Legal Assistant or Paralegal role over time.

The firm offers a collaborative, respectful environment where teamwork is valued and people genuinely enjoy working together.

Benefits include:

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for employees
  • 401(k) with 4% match after one year
  • Paid time off (vacation and sick leave)
  • Monthly team lunches and a positive, professional culture

What You'll Be Doing

This is a document-intensive role that plays a critical part in supporting attorneys and paralegals, particularly in large, complex cases.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Scanning, renaming, and organizing documents (primarily received electronically) into the firm's document management system
  • Managing both digital and paper files, including proper filing, retention, and destruction
  • Learning how to identify and correctly name various legal documents
  • Bates stamping and preparing documents for production, depositions, and trial
  • Assisting with printing, copying, binding, and assembling materials for hearings and depositions
  • Locating and retrieving documents quickly and accurately when needed
  • Providing general administrative support to attorneys, paralegals, and front office as needed

You'll be handling thousands of documents, so organization and attention to detail are critical.

Trial Support & Travel

This role may include occasional trial support, which can involve travel outside of Baton Rouge; this is not every year and there are no trials scheduled until 2027.

During trials, you may:

  • Help transport and organize large volumes of case materials
  • Assist in the courtroom with exhibits and document retrieval
  • Support attorneys with preparation for the next day's proceedings, including evening work

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is:

  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized
  • Dependable, accountable, and consistent in their work
  • Focused and able to minimize distractions in a professional environment
  • A true team player who is willing to jump in and help wherever needed
  • Able to prioritize tasks and manage a high volume of work efficiently
  • Comfortable with physical aspects of the role, including lifting file boxes
  • Computer literate, with experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe (or willingness to learn)

Legal experience is not required. Candidates from administrative, medical, or other professional office environments often do very well in this role if they are eager to learn and committed to growth.

Work Environment & Expectations

This firm values professionalism, focus, and strong work ethic. This is not an environment where distractions or lack of attention to detail will succeed.

They are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, meets deadlines, and wants to be part of a team long-term.

Schedule & Compensation

  • 37.5-hour workweek
  • Overtime may be required during trials or deadlines
  • Pay: $20–$22/hour depending on experience
  • Opportunities for raises and bonuses based on performance

The Right Fit

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a stable, long-term career in a respected law firm and is willing to put in the effort to learn and grow.
