Reports to: Building Principal or Designated Administrator
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma;
- Experience supervising children
- Successful collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, colleagues and administration
- Possesses the physical ability to perform assigned duties.
- Qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Summary: Hortonville Area School District supervisory aides are expected to challenge and encourage all students to reach their full potential within a positive and safe environment. Supervisory aides are also expected to build successful relationships with students, teachers, parents, and colleagues by providing clear expectations, and ongoing communication and support. Supervisory aides are expected to understand and implement social and emotional interventions support the district mission statement.

1. Student Developmental Knowledge
The aide demonstrates an understanding of the growth stages and diverse needs of students.

- Demonstrates an understanding of the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of the age group.
- Links student behavior management strategies to real-life application.
- Bases supervision on goals that reflect high expectations and understanding of the student.
- Uses precise language, correct vocabulary and grammar, and acceptable forms of communication as it relates to interacting with children.
- Demonstrates appropriate accommodations and modifications for diverse learners.
- Supports and encourages students in building appropriate relationships with peers.
2. Supervision of Students
The aide demonstrates effective supervision strategies to meet the needs of all students.

- Builds strong relationships with students.
- Establishes and manages effective routines and procedures in all areas of the school environment.
- Actively supervises and supports students as necessary.
- Communicates with colleagues, teachers and administration and other school personnel in order to meet individual student's needs.
- Adheres to school, district, legal, ethical and procedural requirements.
3. Positive School Environment
The aide uses resources, routines and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning.
