Now Hiring: Working Carpenter Superintendent - Gulfport, MS

United Trades of America is actively seeking an experienced and hands-on Working Carpenter Superintendent to oversee and contribute to ongoing construction projects in Gulfport, Mississippi. This role combines the responsibilities of field supervision with the ability to self-perform carpentry tasks, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, to spec, and with a high standard of workmanship.

Position Overview:

As a Working Carpenter Superintendent, you'll be expected to lead by example-managing a team of tradespeople while also actively participating in the work. This position is ideal for someone who is not only an experienced carpenter but also confident in supervising crews, coordinating subcontractors, reading blueprints, ensuring job site safety, and maintaining project quality from the ground up.

This is a full-time position based in Gulfport, MS. Compensation is $25-$35 per hour, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate carpentry crews and subcontractors on-site

  • Perform hands-on carpentry tasks including framing, formwork, trim, and layout

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints

  • Ensure work is being completed according to specifications, on time and within budget

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite

  • Communicate with project managers, vendors, and inspectors to ensure smooth workflow

  • Monitor materials and supplies, and submit timely requests for necessary items

  • Lead daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA compliance on job sites

  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise, ensuring quick and efficient resolutions

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5+ years of carpentry experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role

  • Proficient in residential or light commercial construction methods

  • Strong knowledge of structural framing, finish carpentry, and related building trades

  • Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, shop drawings, and specs

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain quality control under pressure

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Must own basic tools and personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening

Preferred but Not Required:
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

  • Experience with scheduling software or project tracking tools
