Position Overview

As a part of our Golf Course Maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining the pristine condition and aesthetics of the golf course. This role involves performing various landscaping and maintenance tasks to ensure the golf course is always in top playing condition. The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to upholding the resort’s high standards of excellence. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure world-class presentation of daily course set up and excellent golf course conditions are achieved before the first tee time each day. 
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment. 
  • Safely operate heavy-duty and maintenance equipment. 
  • Accurately complete equipment daily check-in records. 
  • Complete topdressing, aerating, verti-cutting, grooming/brushing, and fertilizing tasks. 
  • Perform irrigation, fertilizer, and product applications while displaying responsible environmental protection practices. 
  • Always use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when operating equipment for yourself and others. 
  • Operate gasoline, diesel, and electric utility vehicles and other maintenance equipment in a safe, non-destructive manner. 
  • Complete pre-shift staging of equipment and resources daily, as required by other team members. 
  • Identify unsafe areas and activities and report hazards immediately. 
  • Continuous debris and garbage collection throughout the golf resort. 
  • Inspect diesel, gasoline, oil, and other equipment fluid levels daily; report any equipment problems, failures, or damages to the Assistant Superintendent and/or Mechanic immediately. 
  • Reports golf course conditions and all disciplinary issues to the Superintendent or Director of Agronomy. 
  • Other duties will be assigned as the operation evolves. 

Qualifications

Tier 1: No formal experience. 

Tier 2: 1-2 years' experience in golf course maintenance or other related experience. 

Tier 3: Two or more years' experience in golf course maintenance or related experience and the ability to operate a tractor, forklift, skid steer, and back-hoe. 

  • Experience with the safe operation of motorized equipment. 
  • Experience with the principles to safely operate gasoline and diesel engines. 
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate hand blowers, trimmers, and other various hand tools and equipment. 
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Positive attitude and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Learn golf terminology and the importance of each playable area such as greens, tees, fairway, and bunker, and understand the game of golf. 
  • A valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain one. 

Working Conditions

  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind. 
  • Ability to spend long hours walking, sitting, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, kneeling, reaching, shoveling, and/or raking. 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, including equipment, supplies, and debris. 
  • Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions. 
  • Follow safety protocols to prevent injuries while operating equipment and handling tools.
  • Be prepared for extended hours, including early mornings and weekends, especially during peak seasons.
  • Use and maintain various machinery, including mowers, tractors, and irrigation systems.
  • Navigate diverse terrains like slopes, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Engage in tasks such as mowing, trimming, and landscaping, requiring physical effort and stamina.
