The Manager of Gateway Cargo Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of gateway cargo operations to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and performance standards while delivering high-quality service to customers. This role ensures operational efficiency, vendor and equipment management, and alignment with corporate goals through effective leadership, budgeting, and collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining, supporting and improving the overall gateway operation to support all business units of the company.
  • Responsible for gateway compliance of all safety regulations and requirements pertaining to the warehouse and personnel.
  • Responsible for and provide oversight of all cargo operations through the gateway to include but not limited to import, cargo acceptance, export, and build up procedures.
  • Ensure equipment in the gateway is operated safely and maintained appropriately.
  • Responsible for achieving all ground operations and corporate goals as related to performance, safety, service, and regulatory compliance. Ensures all employees and vendors are aware of station and corporate goals and expectations.
  • Manages the Cargo operation to ensure that gateway and cargo handling meet all company and governmental policies and regulations and that customers receive quality service.
  • Interact with customers and vendors to ensure proper training in company requirements and procedures.
  • Monitors all gateway contracts to ensure all vendors are complying with all contract provisions and service level agreements.
  • Monitors and evaluates work performance of vendors at the gateway.
  • Interfaces with local airport authorities to ensure company compliance with all local policies. Ensures monthly reports are submitted to local airport authorities as required.
  • Operates within the budget. Highly proficient in keeping costs of gateway operations at a minimum. Ensure all invoices are sent forward to be paid promptly.
  • Ensure cargo scales are maintained and calibrated according to company and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' experience required; at least 5 years of extensive airline operational experience.
  • Experience in B747/B777/B767 cargo operations preferred.
  • Able to perform all aspects of Ground and Cargo Operations including Loadmaster, handling hazardous materials, warehouse operations, cargo build up, etc.
  • Ability to organize and perform multiple assignments in a high stress environment.
  • Ability to interact, communicate and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, customers in all levels of management.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage the activities of a diverse work force.
  • Skilled problem solver with leadership qualities.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Excellent communication, decision and management skills.
  • Must be able to pass a TSA and US Customs background check.

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.
