Job description
The Manager of College and Career Readiness leads the High School's strategy, systems, and staff dedicated to preparing scholars for success in college, career, and beyond. This role sets the vision for executive functioning, academic habits, credit recovery, and postsecondary readiness programming, and directly supervises the staff who deliver it - including the Academic Habits and Credit Recovery Facilitator(s).
This position builds and manages partnerships with colleges, employers, and community organizations; oversees data systems that track graduation readiness, credit recovery, and postsecondary outcomes; and ensures every scholar has a clear, supported pathway to and through college. The Manager works closely with the Principal, counseling team, and instructional staff to align academic habits programming, credit recovery, and college and career readiness into one coherent, campus-wide strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and lead the High School's college and career readiness strategy, aligning academic habits instruction, credit recovery, and postsecondary programming under one vision.
- Set annual goals and benchmarks for graduation readiness, credit recovery completion, college enrollment, and career exploration.
- Design and continuously improve systems, curricula, and schedules used for academic habits and credit recovery programming.
- Ensure HFCA's PRIDE values are embedded across college and career readiness programming.
Team Supervision & Development
- Directly supervise and coach the Academic Habits and Credit Recovery Facilitator(s) and related support staff.
- Conduct regular observations, provide feedback, and manage performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Lead onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for staff delivering academic habits and credit recovery instruction.
- Facilitate team meetings to align on caseloads, interventions, and program quality.
College & Career Pathway Development
- Build and manage partnerships with colleges, universities, employers, and community organizations to expand pathway opportunities.
- Oversee dual enrollment, early college coursework, career exploration, and postsecondary application support (including FAFSA completion).
- Coordinate college visits, career fairs, and postsecondary planning events for scholars and families.
- Ensure scholars and families understand graduation requirements, academic expectations, and postsecondary readiness benchmarks.
Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring
- Analyze campus-wide data on credit accumulation, graduation readiness, attendance, and postsecondary outcomes to identify trends and target support.
- Maintain accurate, campus-level records of student goals, interventions, and program outcomes.
- Develop and oversee individualized academic support plans for students at risk of falling behind on graduation requirements.
- Report program outcomes and data trends regularly to the Principal and school leadership team.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the campus point of contact for families regarding academic habits, credit recovery, and college/career readiness programming.
- Design and lead family engagement events and communications that reinforce academic habits and postsecondary planning at home.
- Build relationships with community organizations and partners that support scholar success beyond the classroom.
Collaboration & Schoolwide Support
- Partner with the Principal, counselors, deans, and instructional staff to align academic habits and readiness programming with schoolwide priorities.
- Participate in and help lead MTSS, SST, and intervention meetings as they relate to academic habits and credit recovery.
- Support schoolwide academic initiatives, recognition programs, and events tied to college and career readiness.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in professional development related to program management, academic interventions, and postsecondary readiness.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and accountability as a member of the school leadership team.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support scholar achievement and the mission of HFCA.
Requirements
Required
- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
- Wisconsin teaching license or ability to obtain licensure.
- 3-5 years of experience working with high school students in an academic, counseling, or student services capacity.
- Prior experience supervising, coaching, or managing staff.
- Strong understanding of executive functioning, academic interventions, credit recovery systems, and adolescent development.
- Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations for staff and scholars.
- Strong organizational, communication, coaching, and project management skills.
- Commitment to educational equity and HFCA's mission.
Preferred
- Experience managing a college and career readiness, advisory, or academic intervention program.
- Experience building partnerships with colleges, employers, or community organizations.
- Experience using student data systems to drive interventions and academic supports at a program or school level.
- Experience working in urban or charter school settings.
- Knowledge of MTSS, restorative practices, and college-preparatory programming.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, or remain active for extended periods throughout the school day.
- Ability to move quickly between areas of the building or campus in response to emergencies.
- Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds.
- Regular use of hands and fingers for communication devices, documentation, or basic equipment.
- Ability to visually and audibly monitor hallways, common spaces, and outdoor areas.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions during student arrival, dismissal, and special events.
- Must be able to respond quickly and safely to emergencies, including situations that may involve physical intervention to protect students or staff, consistent with HFCA policy and training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- School environment characterized by frequent student and staff interaction, noise, and movement.
- Requires consistent presence and alertness in dynamic, high-traffic areas.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for family events, school functions, or community activities.
