Responsibilities

Summary:

This position coordinates services of the program to provide consistent therapeutic care for the children of the facility.  Leads primary prevention groups for children and assists in crisis intervention and case planning.  Attends and contributes to team meetings and client staff.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates services with community agencies and schools.
  • Establishes schedules and activities for all child care areas.
  • Conduct parenting program including leading parenting groups with clients.
  • Develops community resources and makes appropriate referrals to family therapist, play therapist and psychiatrist.
  • Audits and maintains children's chart to include all required documentation.
  • Assures that children's services meet and maintain all minimum standards set by the client.
  • Coordinates parent-child labs.
  • Assists parents to develop behavior plans to aid in age appropriate positive reinforcement and disciplinary practices.
  • Maintains working contracts with coordinating agencies.
  • Assures a physician or a clinic examines physically ill children and that appropriate documentation is placed in the child's record.
  • Assists families with discharge plans.
  • Reports any indication of abuse or neglect to supervisor and client writes a report to the Program Director.
  • Coordinates Children's Services needs for outpatient and aftercare programs.
  • Inventories and orders child care and nursery supplies.
  • Arranges transportation for children to school, field trips, and appointments.
  • Represent the Program Director in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) to two (2) years of experience or training. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration.)
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in one-on one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract two (2) digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties and responsibilities with neatness, accuracy and a degree of excellence in a timely manner.
  • Must have completed all training required by agency.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment.
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to use personal computers and associated software applications.
