About this position:
LMCU is currently looking for a Card Services Specialist to join our team. This Card Services Specialist I role requires a deep understanding of credit union products and services, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The Card Services Specialist I assists staff and members with account and card questions; control issuing, blocking, or renewal of credit cards/ATM cards/Debit cards as well as reviewing charges to determine fraudulent activity.
What you'll do:
  • Assists members and staff with their telephone requests regarding card servicing; answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor, along with their recommendations.
  • Serve as an on-call interpreter for the assigned location and internal departments requiring Spanish language member-facing support, including assisting with member meetings and transactions, explaining financial products and services, resolving language-related issues, and clarifying policies to enhance communication and member experience.
  • Prevents fraud by correctly identifying members using call identification procedures. Report any suspicious activities or potential security breaches to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provides members with information and direction regarding their account status, requests, payments, and rights and obligations associated with the account.
  • Actively participate in employee-led coaching sessions with supervisors, while taking ownership of personal coaching goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you'll bring:
  • A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); some college coursework or banking experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in spoken English and Spanish, with the ability to interpret between multiple parties. Candidates must complete a telephone-based language proficiency assessment during the application process.
