What are some common challenges faced during the implementation of new payment solutions, and how can they be addressed?

Implementing new payment solutions often involves navigating complex integrations with existing systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and managing stakeholder expectations. One common challenge is aligning technical requirements between internal teams and external vendors, which can be addressed through clear project documentation and regular cross-functional meetings. Additionally, staying up-to-date with changing security and compliance standards, such as PCI DSS, is crucial to avoid costly delays. Building strong communication channels within the project team and testing thoroughly before launch are key strategies for a smooth implementation.

Job description

Job Title: Deltek Costpoint Implementation Consultant / Data Migration SpecialistJob Description

This role focuses on stabilizing and accelerating an in-flight Deltek Costpoint ERP implementation by serving as a hands-on subject matter expert and data migration specialist. You will validate system setup, lead data migration from QuickBooks and other legacy systems, and significantly reduce the manual workload on the internal finance team. You will guide the client through implementation, testing, validation, go-live, and post-go-live historical data migration, ensuring the ERP environment is configured correctly for a government contracting context.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary Deltek Costpoint subject matter expert throughout the ERP implementation.
  • Support end-to-end data migration from QuickBooks and other legacy systems into Deltek Costpoint.
  • Review, validate, and complete implementation templates provided by the implementation partner to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead AP data conversion activities, including vouchers, payments, three-way match data, and associated template requirements.
  • Map, cleanse, and prepare customer, project, chart of accounts, employee, vendor, billing, and financial data for migration.
  • Partner closely with internal finance, program management, quality, and operations teams to gather, organize, and prepare required data.
  • Advise on optimal Costpoint configuration related to projects, milestones, billing structures, indirect rates, homeworks, and government contracting requirements.
  • Support system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure go-live readiness and minimize implementation risk.
  • Help reduce manual workload for the controller, financial analyst, and internal implementation team by streamlining data preparation and migration processes.
  • Lead and support post-go-live historical data migration to minimize reliance on the legacy QuickBooks environment.
  • Participate in meetings and calls with the implementation partner and external consultants, providing expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Help define and establish future-state standard operating procedures, training materials, and process documentation once the system is stabilized.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to stakeholders on data requirements, formatting, and best practices for ERP implementations.
  • Quickly assess the current state of the implementation and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on Deltek Costpoint implementation experience, including configuration and deployment in a production environment.
  • Strong ERP data migration and data conversion experience across multiple modules and data types.
  • Experience working with financial data, including accounts payable, projects, vendors, customers, chart of accounts, billing, and historical accounting records.
  • Ability to translate data from a client’s existing formats into required Deltek Costpoint implementation templates.
  • Experience supporting government contracting environments or organizations subject to FAR and DCAA requirements.
  • Strong understanding of indirect rates, project setup, cost structures, and the billing and reporting implications within Costpoint.
  • Ability to join a mid-implementation environment with minimal ramp-up and quickly become productive.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with finance leaders, project managers, implementation partners, and external consultants.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience migrating data specifically from QuickBooks into Deltek Costpoint.
  • Prior experience working within Deltek or PCI-led implementation environments.
  • Experience collaborating with government contract advisory firms such as Redstone Government Consulting or similar organizations.
  • Familiarity with Open Plan, TIPQA, MRP modules, quality systems, or program management tools integrated with Costpoint.
  • Experience creating standard operating procedures, training videos, user guides, and post-go-live process documentation.
  • Ability to lead or oversee lower-level data analysts or business analysts when additional support is required.
Work Environment

The work environment offers flexible engagement options, including remote, hybrid, or an initial onsite ramp-up followed by primarily remote support. Location is secondary to expertise, and the internal team largely operates in a hybrid or remote model. The role can be structured as full-time, part-time, or project-based depending on your skill set, availability, and the evolving scope of work. You will collaborate closely with finance, program management, quality, and operations stakeholders, as well as implementation partners and external consultants. The client aims to move quickly due to current implementation delays and internal team strain, creating a dynamic environment where your expertise can have an immediate and visible impact.
