What are some common responsibilities for a summer position at a car dealership?

In a summer role at a car dealership, you can expect to assist with a variety of tasks, such as greeting customers, supporting sales staff, organizing vehicle inventory, and sometimes handling light administrative work. Many summer positions also involve preparing vehicles for display, assisting with test drives, and ensuring the lot remains clean and presentable. This role provides valuable exposure to automotive sales operations and offers opportunities to develop customer service and teamwork skills. You'll often collaborate closely with sales associates, service technicians, and management, making it a great introduction to the automotive and retail industry.

Positions include clerk, receptionist, car cleaner, and lot attendant. In general, these roles focus on providing customer service and are available with little or no prior experience. Clerks and receptionists may greet customers, answer general questions, schedule service orders, and keep track of inventory. Car cleaners ensure vehicles are kept polished and presentable for customers, while lot attendants may drive cars from one end of the lot to the other for test drives or when different cars are highlighted at the dealership. Car dealership summer jobs are seasonal and may be full-time or part-time, depending on the needs of the company.
