Position Overview

The Electrician I is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems under the close supervision of senior electricians. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of plant electrical systems by assisting with maintenance, construction, and repair activities in accordance with company standards and MSHA regulations.


What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot low-voltage switchgear, electric motors, and AC/DC control circuits.
  • Support basic troubleshooting and understanding of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Read and follow basic ladder diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Work directly with the Electrical Supervisor to complete assigned work orders and maintain the work order system.
  • Perform electrical construction tasks including conduit bending and threading, cable runs, and NEC-compliant installations.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments related to electrical systems.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the electrical shop and assigned work areas.
  • Complete assigned area audits.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
  • Abide by and support all company and plant safety policies, procedures, and MSHA regulations.

What You'll Bring

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical systems and equipment.
  • Proficiency using electrical test instruments, meters, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, ask questions, and work collaboratively with supervision.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage assigned work tasks.


Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of practical working experience in electrical systems within industrial electrical construction or industrial manufacturing required.
  • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification required.
  • Experience troubleshooting VFDs, DC drives, and PLC systems preferred.
  • Must possess own hand tools required.


Other Qualifications

  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Ability to occasionally travel (including overnight) up to one (1) week at a time required.
