The AV Infrastructure org provides developer environments, cloud infrastructure, and ML/AI GPU platforms for AVresearch anddevelopmentteams to build, test, and run fasterin GM.


The Role:

GM is looking for aSeniorCapacity Engineer to join the AV Capacity and Performance Engineering teamin the AVInfrastructure orgto support our critical efforts in developing autonomous vehicles.The mission of the AVCPE team is to provide input into large scale ML infrastructure strategy, advise on key decisions affecting our cloud budget,identifyand execute optimization projects, and provide capacity planning and engineeringexpertiseto support GM's efforts in developing autonomous vehicles (AV).


Whatyou'llbe doing(Responsibilities)

  • Develop and refine technical models for capacity planning for GM's AV infrastructure

  • Design and build automated analytical tools for monitoring capacity and demand signals

  • Partner with AI/ML engineering, infrastructure engineering, and cloud vendors to proactivelyidentifyand drive optimization projects to increase engineering and cost efficiencies


Yourskills &abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years ofrelevant work experience

  • Bachelor'sDegree in Computer scienceor related field or relevant work experience

  • Proficient in coding withPython (our preferredlanguage)

  • Proficient in BI platforms

  • Experience with data modeling and working with SQL on large datasetssuch asBigQuery

  • Good understanding of distributed systems including modern ML system architecture and design


Whatwillgiveyouacompetitiveedge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience

  • Proficient in coding with Pandas and NumPy

  • Proficient in Looker andBigQuery

  • Good communicationskills

  • Experience executing cross functional projects

  • Experiencewith Git, Linux, and common Linux CLI tooling

  • Experience with analyzing billing and usage data in GCP

  • Experience with modern ML system architecture and design

  • Experience with forecasting capacity demand

Hybrid:This role is categorized asHybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report toSunnyvale Technical Centeratminimumthree days per week or at the hiringmanager'sdiscretion. Ability to sit remote in Seattle, WA until office opens.

Compensation:The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paidin accordance withapplicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positionslocatedoutside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role:is$144,700to$261,300. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential:An incentivepayprogram offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
