Job description

Cognicion LLC, a boutique eDiscovery services and information management provider is actively recruiting an engaging, highly motivated Business Development Manager eager to gain sales experience while contributing to top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability across all Cognicion service lines. As an individual contributor to company sales goals, this role collaborates with service line managers, sales team members, and organizational leadership to drive new business through strategic relationships with a focus on new accounts. Develops proposals, negotiates contract terms, and communicates effectively with new and existing clients all focused on closing significant business opportunities. Minimum of only 2-years Business Development experience required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Incorporates and shares vision and direction of Cognicion's capabilities as part of overall marketing and business development outreach. Ensures the execution of Cognicion's marketing and business development activities are aligned with the company's goals and objectives and that pricing remains competitive and profitable.
  2. Collaborates with service line managers, sales team members, and organizational leadership to recommend, plan, develop, and implement go-to business development strategies.
  3. Develops and executes business development efforts that maximize revenue derived from existing client relationships from previous industry experiences and new engagements and facilitates significant traction at new prospects within existing and new markets.
  4. Drives increased revenue and profit by selling directly to prospects and clients, and by recommending and implementing product development ideas that align with Cognicion's core competencies.
  5. Manages marketing objectives, including recommending and developing web content, campaigns, events, digital marketing, presentation decks, collaterals and PR. Builds and expands the company's reputation and image. Develops messaging that identifies and differentiates Cognicion. Maintains consistent brand in all external communications and marketing campaigns. Maintains consistent image throughout all service lines, promotional materials and events.
  6. Delivers reports to Cognicion stakeholders re: wins, losses, pipeline, prospects, competitive analysis, etc. while maintaining relevant activities, opportunities and results within Cognicion's CRM tool.
  7. Promotes a team approach to account development, cross-selling and client service. Collaborates with a host of resources including Cognicion employees, current clients, and industry contacts to develop new business opportunities with potential clients. While this may also include collaboration with existing stakeholders, the primary focus will be on "greenfield" opportunities with new logo targets.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications or similar focus and 2-years of working in a consulting or sales focused environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Experience: Experience in or knowledge of eDiscovery lifecycle, data privacy, contract management, compliance or other data management environment preferred.
  3. Other Qualifications: Working knowledge of the concepts, principles and management of electronically stored information (ESI) for corporations and law firms preferred. Consistently delivers multi-million dollar revenue through direct sales and business development with corporations, law firms and strategic partners. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get financial results from direct contributions and through the business development team. Experience in working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions. Proven track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads. Excellent negotiation skills, proven track record of successfully pitching for new business.
