Summary/Objective: The Senior Director of Cannabis Operations serves as the senior leader responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and controlling all cannabis-related operations under LDF Business Development Corporation. This position oversees two distinct operational departments: Cultivation and Dispensary Retail.

The Senior Director provides strategic leadership, financial oversight, regulatory compliance management, and cross-departmental coordination to ensure operational efficiency, profitability, product quality, and compliance. This role ensures cannabis operations align with the broader mission and performance standards of LDF Business Development Corporation.

Essential Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

Operational and Departmental Leadership
  • Provide direct supervision and performance oversight to the Cultivation Manager and Dispensary Retail Manager.
  • Ensure both departments operate in alignment with approved budgets, SOPs, and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to meet production, sales, and profitability targets.
  • Facilitate coordination between cultivation and retail to align production planning with retail demand.
  • Establish systems to measure and report on operating efficiency and financial performance.
  • Financial Management and P&L Accountability

  • Maintain full profit and loss responsibility for cannabis operations.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets in coordination with Finance.
  • Analyze revenue, profitability, gross margins, production costs, and inventory turnover.
  • Identify and implement strategies to improve yield per plant and overall operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular financial and operational performance reporting.
  • Product Quality and Operational Standards

  • Establish and monitor quality standards for cultivation, processing, packaging, and retail presentation.
  • Implement and oversee quality control systems to ensure consistent, highquality cannabis products.
  • Ensure department managers maintain adherence to SOPs and regulatory standards.
  • Staff Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Oversee hiring, evaluation, development, and discipline of department managers.
  • Promote a collaborative, performancedriven culture.
  • Support leadership development within the cannabis division.

    Work Environment: This position operates in a combination of professional office, cultivation facility, and retail dispensary environments. The role routinely uses computers, seed-to-sale tracking systems, inventory management software, communication systems, and other standard office equipment. The position requires regular interaction with retail operations and production environments.

    Physical Demands

  • Sit, stand, kneel, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders as necessary.
  • Move between office, cultivation, and retail environments.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull items that weigh up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Use fine motor skills and dexterity to grasp, sort, organize, and inspect small items and products.
  • Operate a telephone, computer, and related office equipment.
  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a [Full-Time EXEMPT] position with [40] hours per week expected. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional work hours may be required based on operational needs. Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in required training.

    Travel: Occasional travel is expected for this position. Travel may include attendance at industry conferences, professional development trainings, regulatory meetings, vendor visits, inter-Tribal partnership engagements, and other business-related events necessary to support operational growth, compliance, and strategic initiatives.

    Required Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must pass preemployment drug screening.
  • Must attain CPR/AED Certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Must complete required cannabis industry certifications or regulatory training as directed within first year of employment.
  • Successful results from Background and Reference Checks will be required prior to hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Insurability.
  • Required Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Horticulture, Operations Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 710 years of cannabis operational management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience with direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and performance metrics.
  • Experience overseeing multidepartment or vertically integrated operations preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience may be considered.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Agriculture, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Extensive experience in vertically integrated cannabis operations, including oversight of both cultivation and retail.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multilocation dispensary operations.
  • Experience working within Tribal enterprises or highly regulated government environments.
  • Direct experience with seedtosale tracking systems (e.g., METRC or similar platforms).
  • Proven project management, startup scaling, or acquisition integration experience.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, margin optimization, and operational efficiency improvements.
