The Opportunity


We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support culinary operations at our new 80-seat Pasadena restaurant. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader passionate about seafood, Italian cuisine, and high-volume excellence. You'll work closely with the Head Chef to execute kitchen operations, maintain consistency and quality, and help develop the team - ensuring the culture that defines The Daily Catch brand is upheld every day.


About The Daily Catch


Founded in 1973 in Boston's North End, The Daily Catch is a family-owned Sicilian seafood and pasta institution known for authentic East Coast flavors and craftsmanship. With three Boston restaurants and a seafood wholesale business, we're proud to bring our heritage to the West Coast with our first California location - opening in Pasadena in Spring 2026.

We will be serving fresh New England seafood flown in multiple times per week and prepared with our classic Sicilian recipes, that have satisfied seafood lovers for over 50 years!

Responsibilities


  • Support all back-of-house operations: prep, service, sanitation, and safety.
  • Assist in leading and mentoring a professional kitchen team.
  • Execute all menu items with precision and authenticity.
  • Support inventory management, food costing, and vendor coordination.
  • Help develop and execute seasonal specials using East Coast seafood and California ingredients.
  • Ensure adherence to brand standards for quality, presentation, and hospitality.
  • Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.

Qualifications


  • 5-7 years of kitchen experience, including leadership roles (Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook).
  • Experience with seafood and Italian cuisine preferred.
  • Strong understanding of high-volume, full-service operations.
  • Solid leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and support team success.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
