Job description

REPORTS TO:Manufacturing Manager

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing

POSITION SUMMARY: This position performs CNC machine set-up and operation. This position may also be required to create and edit CNC programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform CNC Operations:

  • - Conduct all set-up and quality operations in support of machining for self and others. Set-up and operate machines in accordance with travelers and any other required paperwork (i.e. drawings, specifications, etc.)

    • Create, edit and/or retrieve CNC programs from system files and execute
    • Manufacture product that meets quality requirements. Inspect and verify work prior to submitting for inspection.
    • Meet time and schedule standards for assigned task
    • Keep equipment clean and maintain proper fluid levels
    • Return all fixtures and tooling upon job completion
  • Advise supervisor of issues that arise

  • Perform non-CNC tasks when necessary: non-CNC equipment operation, hand-work operations, inspections, saw-cut operations, etc.

  • Identify set-up reduction opportunities and Lean process opportunities and communicate to proper 6S team lead

  • Properly use the E2 management system to record job information

  • Identify issues and opportunities in meeting cost requirements of assigned work

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Assume other responsibilities as required

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read & understand blueprints and technical documents commensurate with machine operation
  • A genuine belief in continuous improvement and disciplined processes and a willingness to analyze, challenge and change processes, if needed, to create a more efficient environment and culture
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Self starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize work day/projects independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Firm understanding of CNC programs to include format and editing
  • Ability to use various inspection gages
  • Basic computer knowledge

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • 5 years of relevant CNC machine experience

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED:

  • Valid driver’s license
