Below are the detailed job descriptions and the differences between the two positions. Training & Development: Initial training will be provided on first shift for a minimum of 2-3 months. Role Overview: Job 1: CNC Technician, Optical Polishing Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Working Hours: 1st Shift is typically 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM; 2nd Shift is typically 2:00 PM - 11:30 PM Job Description:
  • Manufacture precision optics and optical components.
  • Read and interpret optical component drawings/specs including GD&T.
  • Interpret interferograms, CMM reports, and other metrology data.
  • Independently set up and operate polishing equipment, lathes, flycutters, and other manual/CNC machines.
  • Perform bi-weekly maintenance on polishing machines.
  • Use advanced testing equipment such as interferometers and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering and technicians.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Job requires standing 80-90%, walking 10-20%, bending 20%, lifting
    • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
    • Hands-on mechanical skills: disassembling/reassembling components, diagnosing issues.
    • Strong geometry and trigonometry skills.
    • Ability to work any shift, including compressed schedules.
