What does a CNC lathe operator do?

A CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) lathes to manufacture precision metal parts and components. They interpret blueprints, select appropriate tools, load materials, and monitor the machining process to ensure quality and accuracy. Operators also perform routine maintenance, make adjustments to machine settings, and inspect finished products for defects. Their work is crucial in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing where precision components are essential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CNC lathe operator?

To thrive as a CNC Lathe Operator, you need a solid understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and experience with CNC programming, often supported by a high school diploma or technical certification.
