Job description

Marlow & Daughters is seeking a Butcher!
We are looking for someone to join our small and focused team in a unique butcher shop/specialty foods store with local produce. Marlow & Daughters is a pioneering shop that focuses on breaking down whole animals so that everything is appreciated and nothing goes to waste, and this same ethos applies to all other aspects of the shop. We make a special effort to source produce from small farms in the Northeast that we actually know and love, curate a unique charcuterie selection, and sell grocery items that people actually want.
We make a delicious family meal daily, work collaboratively to serve customers, and enjoy a lot of good music over the course of the day. This is a unique opportunity to become more familiar with specialty food, whole animal butchery, and creative cooking.
We offer:
  • Competitive wages + tips
  • Subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance at 90 days
  • Industry-leading paid time off plans + paid family leave
  • 401k plan access beginning at hire
  • Discounts across our group of businesses
  • Monthly shop stipend
  • Access to our Employee Emergency Assistance Fund for added support
As a Butcher you will:
  • Provide excellent service to customers including greeting them, responding to questions, helping them make product-related decisions, and fulfilling orders
  • Cut and portion raw meat (beef, pork, lamb, poultry) into retail-ready case cuts and restaurant orders, and prepare / assemble value-added meat products (sausage, charcuterie, etc.)
  • Fill, rotate, and maintain product in meat case and portion, weigh, and wrap product for sale
  • Assist in verifying, receiving, unloading, and carrying deliveries of meat products including primals of whole animal carcasses weighing up to 100 lbs.
Strong candidates will:
  • Have 1+ years of professional cooking or butchery experience with solid knife skills
  • Be available full time with a willingness to work weekends and some holidays
  • Be a self-starter, comfortable both following and generating daily tasks lists at the quality standards set by the management team
  • Bring detail and care to their work while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Be reliable, focused, organized, communicative, and curious
  • Have a receptive and charitable attitude toward constructive feedback
  • Be interested in working collaboratively towards meeting the goals of the team and the business
While performing the duties of the job, Butchers are regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
