Job description

Business Systems Analyst - Finance and Accounting
Company Corporate - Houston, TX 77054
Full Time
Description
TNT Crane & Rigging is seeking an IT Business Systems Analyst to support enterprise platform initiatives alongside broader shared service functions across Operations and IT. This role is the strategic bridge between Finance/Accounting operations and technology, translating requirements into scalable system configurations, standardized processes, and sustainable adoption - spanning Finance and Accounting as well as IT across the Corporate Enterprise.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on enterprise system experience (ERP/financial systems preferred) with genuine SQL query-writing proficiency (standard SQL and PostgreSQL), and understands the data governance, process optimization, and cross-functional coordination needed to execute Finance-focused system initiatives successfully. HR/Payroll systems exposure is a plus, not a focus area.
Key Responsibilities
Business Process Alignment & Systems Strategy
• Partner with Finance and Accounting leadership to gather, document, and validate business requirements, translating them into functional specifications and system solutions.
• Facilitate process harmonization across Finance, Accounting, and Operations to reduce redundancy and increase standardization.
• Support enterprise platform initiatives - system evaluations, vendor demos, fit-gap analysis, process mapping, requirements validation - with emphasis on financial/ERP systems.
• Serve as liaison between Finance/Accounting stakeholders and technical teams to ensure system functionality aligns with financial and operational objectives.
• Identify automation, reporting, and workflow optimization opportunities across Finance and shared service functions.
Data Stewardship & Data Quality
• Lead data cleansing, mapping, reconciliation, and master data governance across Finance, Accounting, and operational data domains.
• Define data standards, naming conventions, and governance policies with subject-matter experts.
• Perform data quality audits and coordinate remediation to ensure accuracy and integrity across GL, AP/AR, and related financial data.
• Support data validation, migration, and reconciliation tied to system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
Training & Change Enablement
• Design and deliver training materials - user guides, quick-reference docs, video walkthroughs, instructor-led sessions - in person and virtually.
• Serve as a trusted business systems resource supporting adoption and operational readiness.
• Support change management efforts tied to system enhancements and process transformation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Build strong working relationships across Finance, Accounting, Operations, and IT to align technology initiatives with business priorities.
• Synthesize input from stakeholder groups to drive consensus on process standardization and system configuration decisions.
• Present status updates, findings, and business impact analyses to leadership in business-friendly language.
• Coordinate UAT cycles - documenting defects, tracking resolution through completion.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
• Strong SQL proficiency - standard SQL and PostgreSQL - for data analysis, validation, reporting, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting enterprise business systems within Finance, Accounting, or shared service functions.
• Experience gathering business requirements and supporting system implementations, process improvement, and end-user adoption.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred
• Experience with cloud-based enterprise financial/ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes: GL, AP/AR, budgeting, payroll, reconciliations, financial reporting.
• Familiarity with data mapping, integrations, reporting tools, and ETL concepts.
• Prior experience in multi-entity, multi-location, or rapidly growing organizations undergoing systems modernization.
• General familiarity with HR/Payroll systems (HRIS, UKG, Paycom, or similar) and related processes - a plus, not a focus area.
• Crane rental industry experience is a plus.
Education & Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, CBAP, Lean/Six Sigma, or CPA/accounting coursework a plus.
Working Conditions
• Full-time, on-site position with occasional on-call responsibilities for system emergencies.
• Opportunities for growth and professional development within the company.
