Job description

Overview

The GA HOG is responsible for leading the strategic activities of the Business Culture (BC) Group.  The GA Group includes General Affairs, ERP, Team Relations, EHS, IT/Security, and Facilities Maintenance.  The GA HOG also acts as liaison between the Mobis Ohio plant, Highland Park, MI and Plymouth, MI facilities to ensure timely implementation of corporate strategies and initiatives.

Responsibilities

(To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

 

  • Sets strategic direction for the Business Support Group
  • Approves annual goals and objectives for each Business Support Group Department
  • Outlines safe and secure operational procedures which identify and take into account of all relevant hazards.
  • Sets clear expectations, evaluates Senior Manager job performance, and develops solutions to ensure on-going business success
  • Evaluates continuous improvement opportunities and assigns responsibility for implementation best practice solutions
  • Collaborates with other Group Heads to ensure that the Business Culture Group provides on-going timely customer service
  • Plans and develops evaluation and promotion requirements for executives and managers
  • Develops and implements compensation strategies and structures that align with company goals, facilitates hourly and salaried pay rate approvals through Headquarters HR
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of competitive and cost-effective benefits programs, facilitates annual premium increase and program change approvals through Headquarters HR
  • Directs the planning, developing, implementing, and administration of HR programs, procedures, and guidelines and ensures alignment with the strategic goals of the company
  • Directs the performance management system, ensures consistency of administration
  • Directs the development of and recommends Human Resources policies and practices that will establish positive employer/employee relationships
  • Collects data and provides a monthly Key Indicator report to Headquarters
  • Participates in regularly scheduled phone conferences with Headquarters HR
  • Oversees management of the operating budget to the BC Group

AUTHORITY & SCOPE

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes  Provides general guidance to Heads of Department in GA, TR, EHS, IT/Security and ERP.

Qualifications

(The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management or Construction Management/Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • At Least seven (7) years' experience in a managerial role in a manufacturing environment
  • Project management experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Leadership and Coaching ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Security Protocol
  • Working knowledge of procurement and negotiation and management of external contracts

 

Preferred Education & Experience: No

  • Master's Degree in Facility Management or Construction Management/Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Experience with SAP is highly desired.

  • 90% office, 10% production floor
  • Domestic and International Travel as required
