POSITION OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Director, Business Development Operations Support, the Business Process Owner (BPO) - Advisory Services is responsible for defining, governing, and continuously evolving the business processes that support Advisory Services across BDC. As the business owner for Advisory processes, you will ensure processes are efficient, client-centric, and aligned with organizational priorities. BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, and your work will contribute directly to the effectiveness and growth of Advisory Services delivered across Canada. CHALLENGES TO BE MET


Strategic Process Ownership

  • Define, maintain, and evolve the target operating model for Advisory Services processes.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of processes across Advisory Services, Business Development, Risk, Finance, Compliance, and Shared Services.
  • Establish and maintain process standards, business rules, governance frameworks, and process documentation.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and business owner for Advisory Services processes.

Business Improvement & Transformation

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve operational efficiency, client experience, and business effectiveness.
  • Gather, document, and prioritize business requirements to support process improvement and capability development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the Advisory Services digital roadmap by defining business needs and process priorities.
  • Support implementation and adoption of new processes, technologies, tools, and ways of working.

Governance, Performance & Stakeholder Management

  • Define, monitor, and report on process performance indicators (KPIs) and business outcomes.
  • Partner with business and corporate functions to ensure process effectiveness, compliance, and operational consistency.
  • Provide analysis, recommendations, and insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Influence, align, and engage stakeholders across multiple business functions and organizational levels.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • 8-12 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Business operations
    • Business process management (BPM)
    • Advisory services
    • Financial services
    • Related business or operational functions

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business process management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience defining, documenting, governing, and improving business processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating discussions, workshops, and stakeholder alignment activities.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and drive change within complex organizations.
  • Experience working with technology-enabled business processes and business transformation initiatives.
  • Bilingualism in French and English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience supporting Advisory Services functions within a financial services environment.
  • Experience contributing to digital transformation initiatives, including business process redesign and capability evolution.
  • Experience defining and monitoring process performance metrics and business outcome measures.
