Job description

Cary, North Carolina, United States Software and Services

Are you energized by making complex organizations run better? We are looking for a scrappy, strategic operator to join the WPC Engineering operations team. This role sits at the intersection of technical operations and business strategy — owning the ongoing, evolving initiatives that shape how an engineering organization functions. If you are someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fluidly between data and people, and gets satisfaction from bringing order to hard problems, this role is for you. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their best work. We don’t just build products — we craft the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries. Apple Wallet has changed the way we access the world and is one of our fastest growing and most impactful services.

Description

The Engineering Operations team is the connective tissue of WPC Engineering. We tackle the technical and operational challenges that sit between teams — the problems that don\'t have a natural owner but matter enormously to how we execute and grow. You will partner closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners to drive a portfolio of initiatives spanning service operations, change management, and process development. You are not just a project manager — you are an analytical thinker and a pragmatic problem solver. You know how to get things done through others, and you understand that in a scrappy team, ownership and follow-through are everything. This is not a project management role in the traditional sense; our PMO handles defined work with clear start and end dates. This role owns the messier, ongoing operational layer: the things that need to run, improve, and evolve continuously.

Responsibilities
  • Build the operational foundation for our DevOps transformation by standing up processes and creating clarity across team roles and operating models, engineering health metrics, release governance, and incident management
  • Lead cadences that keep the organization aligned and forward-looking, such as service and business reviews and goal setting
  • Serve as the connective layer between operational teams and engineering consumers, translating needs into priorities and tracking adoption across teams at varying stages of maturity
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to drive AI-powered initiatives, such as anomaly detection and post-incident process automation
  • Define and implement operational processes and policies across the org, owning the strategy and stakeholder alignment and executing in partnership with enablement teams
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management and/or product operations in a technology company
  • Extensive cross-functional stakeholder management experience, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change across many teams
  • Thrives in ambiguity with experience starting and managing complex initiatives end-to-end
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE-adjacent environment
  • Track record of collaborating with globally distributed teams and coordinating complex initiatives across multiple regions
  • Comfortable building processes from scratch, not just inheriting and maintaining them
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and experience driving adoption of AI-powered tooling within an engineering org
