Job Description

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, transforming raw data into analytics-ready datasets, and developing robust reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making across Westgate. Approximately 65% of this role consists of backend ETL development using SQL, Alteryx, Python, and Snowflake, and 35% involves building Tableau dashboards, analytical reports, and business insights. The Engineer supports a wide range of business functions including Inventory Control, Yield, Operations, Call Center/Dialer, Loyalty/Owner Engagement, and Executive leadership. This role gathers business requirements, interprets operational logic, and translates them into automated workflows and scalable BI solutions that improve data quality, operational efficiency, and revenue performance.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (H-1B, L-1, O-1 or CPT/OPT).

Backend ETL Development ( 65%)

  • Designs, builds, and maintains automated data pipelines using SQL, Alteryx, Python, Snowflake, and Oracle.
  • Gathers and documents business requirements and operational logic from stakeholders across the org.
  • Translates nuanced business rules from Yield, Inventory, Operations, Dialer, and Loyalty into accurate and scalable ETL processes.
  • Cleans, transforms, reconciles, and validates large datasets from LMS, TSW, Oracle, and other systems.
  • Optimizes pipeline performance, reliability, and data freshness.
  • Partners with IT on schema alignment, integration issues, and resolving data flow inconsistencies.
  • Maintains documentation for data models, transformation logic, and pipeline dependencies.

Reporting Development & Dashboarding ( 35%)

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Tableau dashboards used across Inventory, Operations, Marketing, Call Center/Dialer, Loyalty/Owner Engagement, and executive teams.
  • Build reporting assets that support forecasting, budgeting, operational oversight, and yield optimization.
  • Conduct unit testing and validate output logic to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Improve report design, automation, usability, and performance for business stakeholders.

Business Support, Analysis & Insights

  • Provide analytical and reporting support across multiple operational domains, including:
  • Inventory Control & Yield Management
  • Operations & Resort Performance
  • Call Center / Dialer Performance & Workforce Management
  • Loyalty / Owner Engagement & Retention
  • Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership
  • Analyze trends, performance drivers, call behavior, channel utilization, and operational metrics to identify risks, inefficiencies, or opportunities.
  • Develop insights and recommendations that inform staffing, revenue strategies, inventory allocation, owner engagement, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Support ad hoc business questions by building quick-turn analyses and clearly presenting findings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partners with stakeholders across Inventory, Marketing, Operations, Loyalty, Finance, Call Center, and IT to gather requirements and understand process logic.
  • Facilitates requirement-gathering sessions to ensure ETL workflows and reporting outputs reflect real business rules and KPIs.
  • Works with IT to ensure accuracy, alignment, and performance across data sources.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders to implement analytical solutions and validate results.

Data Integrity & Quality Assurance

  • Performs routine validation, reconciliation, and quality checks across systems and automated workflows.
  • Investigates anomalies and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ensures final reporting outputs meet high standards of accuracy, reliability, and consistency.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience developing ETL workflows in Alteryx, Python, and/or comparable tools.

Education & Certifications

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Oracle, LMS, TSW, and enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Proficiency with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, formulas, modeling).
  • Ability to manage large datasets and perform detailed reconciliation.
  • Ability to understand complex operational processes and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret trends and identify business impacts.
  • Understanding of sales forecasting, yield concepts, call center metrics, and operational KPIs.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new processes and technologies.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable facilitating requirement sessions and documenting business rules.
  • Ability to present insights and findings clearly and professionally.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
