Job description

Job Summary:
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Business Intelligence Engineer III role supports the SFB Data Analytics & Technology team, focusing on designing KPI frameworks and delivering actionable intelligence through data analytics and technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Leading end-to-end development and enhancement of the ORBIT KPI visualization platform
• Driving rapid development of BI solutions for the SFB organization, from requirements through delivery
• Designing and maintaining semantic layers, dimensional models, and data marts in Databricks
• Implementing data quality checks, pipeline observability, and storage/compute optimization
• Developing and maintaining robust Python packages with CI/CD and data validation
• Writing and optimizing complex SQL for analytics and reporting use cases
• Designing KPI frameworks and performing root cause analysis and scenario modeling with business stakeholders
• Prototyping custom application visualizations using lightweight web components (e.g., GitLab Pages, Steamlit, other lightweight app framework)
• Leading requirements development and problem scoping across Operations and SFB stakeholder groups
• Leading multi-team projects including timeline management, dependency tracking, and post-mortems
• Setting analytical and technical standards and representing the team in cross-functional forums
• Building and maintaining comprehensive technical and analytical documentation
Qualifications:
Required:
• BS in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent degree field
• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related technical field (fewer with advanced degree)
• Expert-level SQL skills including CTEs, window functions, query optimization, and semantic layer design
• 4+ years experience with Databricks or equivalent cloud data platforms
• Experience architecting dimensional models, data marts, and parameterized BI assets
• Experience implementing data quality checks, pipeline observability, and CI/CD for data workflows
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi-team projects and drive delivery across stakeholder groups
• 1+ years of experience leveraging LLMs and AI-powered tools in an analytics or development workflow
• 2+ years of experience with AWS
Preferred:
• Demonstrated ability to design KPI frameworks and translate complex business processes into measurable metrics
• Familiarity with React/TypeScript for building analytics views or lightweight front-end integrations
• Experience with REST or GraphQL API integration in a BI or data context
• Experience supporting operations, finance, and/or strategy use cases
• Experience conducting formal post-mortems and implementing process improvements
• Deep experience with AWS
