Job description

Business Intelligence Developer
The Ultradent Information Technology Team is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer responsible for building, implementing, automating, and supporting cloud-based Microsoft BI solutions on Azure. This role has a strong focus on CRM and Finance data domains, enabling richer customer relationship insights and more accurate financial reporting across the organization.
The right individual will possess experience in all stages of the data value chain (acquisition, warehousing, modeling, reporting/analytics), as well as the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. A firm grasp of BI implementation methodologies and in-depth experience with the Microsoft BI Stack - specifically Azure Data Warehouse, Power BI data cubes (tabular models/semantic models), Data Factory, and the Power Platform - is a must.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders - primarily within CRM and Finance - to discover business needs, formulate solution visions, navigate and overcome objections, and deliver results through strong technical acumen.
  • Design and implement ETL routines in Azure Data Factory, build and maintain Power BI semantic models (data cubes), and develop performant, insight-driven reports and dashboards that serve CRM analytics (customer lifecycle, pipeline, retention) and Finance reporting (P&L, budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition).
  • Define physical table structures in Azure Data Warehouse, including any modifications required to support business reporting requirements and the overall data model.
  • Apply data modeling principles to build tabular models from scratch and continuously improve those models through customer focus groups and implemented feedback.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Business Analysts, stakeholders, and management throughout all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, ensuring deadlines are met and output is of the highest quality.
  • Leverage AI capabilities - including Power BI Copilot and AI Builder - and agentic automation tools to accelerate report delivery, surface anomalies, and reduce manual data preparation effort.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Independently identify value-generating projects, gain stakeholder buy-in, and see initiatives through to completion.
  • Partner with Finance and CRM teams to build an ever-improving, credible set of Power BI data cubes and models intuitive enough for non-technical business users.
  • Adopt and embrace automation practices across Azure and Power Platform, including AI-assisted workflows where appropriate.
  • Stay current on the latest Azure and Microsoft BI technologies, rapidly filling knowledge gaps through continuous learning and research.
  • Develop and maintain technical standards applied across all elements of the data value chain.
  • Ensure optimal performance and high availability of Azure Data Warehouse and Power BI dataset refresh services while meeting or exceeding Service Level Objectives.
  • Support ETL development and Azure deployment activities as needed.

What We're Looking For
Education & Experience:
  • 4-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university - or equivalent additional experience is ideal.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful, results-oriented experience across a diverse range of business and IT functions is ideal.
  • Experience developing pricing models, financial KPIs, and CRM-driven metrics and reporting.

Technical Skills:
  • In-depth, hands-on experience with the Microsoft BI Stack: Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Power BI (semantic models/data cubes), and Power Platform.
  • Strong command of Power BI, including data cube (tabular model) design, DAX, Power Query, and report/dashboard development.
  • Experience integrating CRM data (e.g., Dynamics 365, Salesforce) into Azure-based BI solutions to support sales, pipeline, and customer analytics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL including DDL, Stored Procedures, Views, and Functions.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered BI features (Power BI Copilot, AI Builder) and an interest in applying AI automation and agentic tools to data and reporting workflows.
  • In-depth experience with source control management systems such as Git.

Soft Skills:
  • High-performance orientation with the ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to deliver projects on time with minimal supervision.
