ABOUT THE JOB

The Business Development Director (BDD) reports to the VP of Hawkins Water Treatment and is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy to drive increased profit growth for the company in new and existing markets. The BDD will deliver on growth through collaboration with the Hawkins Water Treatment Sales and Technical organizations to focus selling and support efforts, and direct customer acquisition activities in key market segments and accounts. Overall success in this role will be determined based on the profitable business growth of the Water Treatment markets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies, evaluates, and executes new business opportunities aligned with the company's overall strategy for growth in new and existing markets.
  • Conducts market analysis and leverages emerging trends to develop strategic vision for new market expansion. Looks beyond the company's current business landscape to discern future growth opportunities.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to understand the company's strengths and value proposition to create sales strategies that result in sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Mobilizes internal stakeholders to support new and current business development initiatives.
  • Research customer needs and trends and uses the information to inform the business and product development strategies.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to modify existing products and services to accommodate new customer bases and potential revenue streams.
  • Develops strategies for lead generation, monitoring, and conversion, including reports showing lead generation success and failure rates.
  • Provides periodic updates on the progress of business development initiatives against the set strategic objectives.
  • Acts as the brand ambassador for the company going into new market segments and geographic territories.
  • Ensure consistent customer satisfaction based on a deep understanding of customer needs.
  • Develops and grows relationships with key suppliers and industry trade organizations.
  • Maintains a strong industry network and knowledge of competitive companies.

Maintain Professional Status and Reputation

  • Participate in educational opportunities; Review professional publications; Maintain personal networks; Participate in professional organizations
  • Adapt approach in real time to match shifting demands of different situations. Demonstrates a bias for action and eagerness to take initiative.

Management Review

  • Regularly report to VP – Water Treatment the status of all major accounts, and the status toward achieving the strategic plan.
  • States what needs to be said at the right time, to the right person, in the right manner.  Communicates a clear consistent understandable message. 
  • Acts as a coach - provides immediate balanced feedback regarding successes and opportunities. Collaborate to set and support team’s personal and professional goals aligned with business objectives.

Business Acumen

Knowledgeable in current and best practices, trends, and information affecting the organization.

              ABOUT YOU:

              • Bachelor’s degree
              • 10+ years of industry experience.
              • Strong knowledge of water treatment and wastewater treatment, preferably from industrial type market segments.
              • Excellent selling skills and successful sales experience, including professional presentation skills
              • Strong computer skills, including MS Office tools.
              • Strong written and verbal communication skills
              • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills
              • Strong math skills including ability to perform statistics calculations.
              • Effective organizational and follow-through skills required

              TRAVEL

              Up to 60% travel required

              Expected Compensation: $180,000-$220,000
