Summary

The Business Development Strategy Director leads growth through insight, creativity and trusted relationships. This role is ideal for a strategic, consultative seller who enjoys shaping ideas early, guiding complex conversations and building momentum over time.

As a lead within Augeo’s sales ecosystem, this role owns both new business origination and expansion of existing client relationships. Success is driven by curiosity, credibility and the ability to translate business goals into compelling live and experiential solutions.

This is not a transactional sales role. It’s designed for someone who thrives in long sales cycles, values partnership over pitching and brings a strong point of view to the table.

  • Lead discovery conversations with prospective and existing clients to uncover business needs, brand priorities and experiential opportunities.
  • Originate and expand business through relationship-based, consultative sales efforts.
  • Shape the strategic and creative approach for proposals and presentations across live events, experience consulting and custom programs.
  • Partner with internal creative, production and sourcing teams to develop compelling concepts and viable budget assumptions.
  • Deliver confident, persuasive client presentations and lead pitch conversations.
  • Own the narrative through the sale, then partner with Account Directors to ensure continuity of the original vision.
  • Stay current on industry trends and Augeo capabilities.
  • Track opportunities in Salesforce and contribute to internal strategy and brainstorm sessions.
  • Travel approximately 15–25% annually and represent the Augeo brand with professionalism and energy.

What Success Looks Like

  • Trusted relationships established with internal teams and key client stakeholders
  • Business successfully closed through long-cycle, consultative pursuits
  • Recognition as a strategic thinker who elevates client conversations and proposal quality

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field (marketing, communications, strategy, events, agency, consulting, or similar).
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in business development, strategy or consultative sales within events, experiential, agency or related environments.
  • Strong strategic and creative thinking skills, with the ability to translate insight into ideas.
  • Confident written and verbal communicator; poised presenter with senior audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Curiosity, resourcefulness and comfort navigating ambiguity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience preferred.

Location

Candidates must be based in one of the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin. Candidates local to an Augeo office are expected to work a hybrid schedule.
