About the Position:
Are you a tenacious deal-closer who lives to uncover new business opportunities? Cleanleaf Energy is looking for a Business Development Sales Director with a hunter’s mindset – someone who isn’t afraid to hit the phones, knock on doors (real or virtual), and open new opportunities for our Operations and Maintenance (O amp;M) services in the solar PV and BESS sectors.
We’re looking for a high-energy, highly motivated individual who can build a strong pipeline from scratch, create lasting customer relationships, and close deals that move the needle. This role is made for someone who thrives on the grind – identifying new prospects, developing value-driven proposals, and winning new business through sheer drive, industry knowledge, and persuasive salesmanship.
This position will report to the VP of Business Development.

Position Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Position Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Identify and pursue O amp;M opportunities in the solar PV and BESS markets through outbound prospecting, cold outreach, networking, and industry engagement.
  • Maintain a robust and active sales funnel; update and track all activity in CRM.
  • From lead generation to contract close – including quoting, proposal development, and negotiation.
  • Engage decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders across the industry to open doors and close deals.
  • Make regular, consistent contact with prospects and clients through calls, emails, site visits, conferences, and events.
  • Work with Field Ops, Finance, and Executive leadership to ensure smooth project handoffs and alignment on customer delivery.
  • Represent Cleanleaf at industry events, tradeshows, and webinars to promote our O amp;M capabilities and expand your network.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • You’re a sales hunter – proactive, competitive, and fearless when it comes to cold outreach and making the first move.
  • You have 10+ years of direct sales or operations experience in the solar PV industry, with a strong track record of closing deals.
  • You know the O amp;M landscape – ideally with experience selling solar and/or BESS services or related technical offerings.
  • You have a strong existing network in the solar industry and can hit the ground running.
  • You’re self-motivated, independent, and driven to exceed goals with minimal supervision.
  • You understand the technical side enough to talk intelligently about PV plant performance, service scopes, and value propositions.
  • You thrive in a dynamic, growing company where ownership and hustle are rewarded.
Required Skills and Experience:
While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of these experiences, skills, and attributes:
  • Up to 30% travel for prospecting, conferences, and client meetings
  • Direct experience in solar PV industry sales and/or O amp;M service sales
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and close complex, consultative sales
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in CRM and Presentation software
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Working Conditions:
A Business Development Sales Director will be required to work under the following conditions:
  • May be required to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Required to work in office conditions the rest of the time (remote is acceptable for this role).

The targeted pay scale for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 annually, with the potential to earn an additional $100,000 in commissions contingent upon meeting specified performance targets.
