Position Description:
Outpost Technologies is seeking a motivated and capable Business Development Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will support company growth within the Aerospace and Defense industry by identifying and qualifying new opportunities, building customer relationships, and leading capture efforts for select pursuits. This role bridges hands-on analysis and independent execution: the Specialist will manage portions of the business development pipeline, manage capture activities from opportunity identification through proposal submission, and coordinate contributions from technical staff, leadership, and teaming partners to deliver winning solutions.
The posted compensation range represents the expected pay range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may be higher or lower than the stated range based on factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized expertise, geographic considerations, market conditions, and alignment with internal compensation structures and government contracting requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Create, manage, and maintain the business development pipeline, ensuring opportunity data is accurate, current, and actionable.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the Aerospace and Defense sectors.
  • Coordinate capture efforts for assigned opportunities, including developing capture plans, win strategies, and competitive assessments.
  • Coordinate and integrate contributions from technical staff, program managers, and leadership throughout the capture and proposal lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government customers, prime contractors, teaming partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive proposals, presentations, and solutions tailored to customer needs.
  • Conduct research and analysis of market trends, customer priorities, competitor activities, and potential partners to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support the execution of business development strategies to achieve company targets and expand market presence.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote our services and capabilities.
  • Provide regular reports and actionable insights on pipeline health, capture progress, and business development activities to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development, capture, or proposal support, preferably within the Aerospace and Defense industry or government contracting.
  • Working knowledge of the DoD acquisition process, procurement regulations, and contracting mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks or projects involving multiple contributors and deadlines.
  • Ability to grasp and communicate technical concepts and work effectively alongside technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience leading or supporting capture efforts within the government contracting space, preferably with the Department of Defense.
  • Familiarity with structured capture and proposal processes (such as the Shipley method).
  • Experience working with small business set-aside programs.
  • Proposal writing and bid management experience.
  • Existing network of contacts within the DoD and related industries.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and trends relevant to the DoD market.
