Job Description: Business Development Agent
CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE
Marina Landscape, Inc. is hiring a Business Development Agent to join our team in Orange, California. We're looking for a driven, organized, and goal-oriented sales professional with experience in construction, landscape, or related industries. This position is critical to generating new business, maintaining key client relationships, and supporting long-term company growth.
Key Responsibilities:
SALES SKILLS
โ€ข Achieves monthly and annual sales goals, Hit Rate, Gross Profit for Public and Private Construction as set for each year
โ€ข Generates 30% of bid volume by bringing leads that are not publicly advertised
โ€ข Contacts a minimum of 10 clients per day to develop close relationships with clients and the ability to get work, leads, feedback and last look from clients
โ€ข Ability to get 70% job feedback from clients
SALES ACTIVITIES AND INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE
โ€ข Develop public relations; remain abreast of industry trends; maintain the top 20 clients of your assigned market sector and complete a profile for each client on Marina's Client Relationship Manager (MCRM)
โ€ข Maintains a marketing calendar by visiting clients weekly and providing a monthly status report on client engagement.
โ€ข Perform daily follow up calls. Contact clients and provide feedback on all current bidding projects
โ€ข Manage and follow up all open jobs
โ€ข Complete a bid transmittal for each job in preparation for the margin meeting discussion
โ€ข Provide a preliminary turnover for all awarded jobs
โ€ข Assist in contract negotiations until the final contract is executed
โ€ข Respond to a client's Invitation to Bid (ITB) on the same day, if not immediately. This is a top priority for Marina.
โ€ข Analyze and generate all sales reports as required to the Business Development Manager
โ€ข Learn and understand the construction industry (Union Affiliations, Laws, Regulations, Contract, Trades, Products)
โ€ข Review all jobs with Estimator. Provide scope of work and review the scope letter before bid day
โ€ข Attend association and industry networking events and conferences monthly
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
โ€ข Utilize computer skills, information technology, and MS Office applications effectively.
โ€ข Provide excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
โ€ข Learn and understand how to use internal Marina software and applications to effectively create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
โ€ข Learn and understand the Landscape Industry including irrigation, planting and Erosion Control/Hydroseeding
Experience:
  • 3 years of Sales experience (ideally in construction, landscaping, or a related industry)
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals (revenue, hit rate, gross profit)
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Ability to handle high-volume outreach (daily client contact and follow-ups)
