Job description

Business Systems Analyst positions (three salary grades available) within the New York State Comptroller's Office, Division of Retirement Services. The role involves serving as a liaison between business and IT stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and validate requirements for system and process improvements; conducting requirements analysis, gap analysis, and system testing; and training staff on new procedures. Positions available at Trainee 1 (SG-14), Trainee 2 (SG-16), or full performance level 1 (SG-18), based on candidate qualifications, with advancement from trainee to full performance after successful completion.

Key qualifications:
  • Four to six years of qualifying business analysis experience depending on level, OR equivalent combination of education and experience (associate's degree with 2-4 years, bachelor's degree with 1-2 ye
  • Experience using business analysis elicitation techniques such as interviews, surveys, focus groups, and document analysis
  • Experience with business analysis methodologies including process modeling, fit-gap analysis, and solution design
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in team-oriented, participative environment and adapt to change
