POSITION SUMMARY
The Bus Driver plays a critical role in supporting the mission of BRYSS and Tejano Center by providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation for students to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities. The Bus Driver is responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful environment while ensuring compliance with all districts, state, and federal transportation regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
  • Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation drug/alcohol screenings and annual physical examinations.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required bus driver safety training and certifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and student management skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate a school bus and use GPS and routing systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Operate school bus, GPS, two-way radio, and safety equipment including fire extinguishers, flares, and reflective signs.
  • Prolonged sitting and driving; frequent standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, walking, and stair climbing.
  • Light lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, vehicle fumes, moving traffic, and irregular work hours.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control, professionalism, and sound judgment under stress.
