Description

Leidos is seeking a  Release Train Engineer who will be the Build Lead for a dynamic team working on the development of software that improves aircraft runway and terminal congestion. 

Nationwide congestion is increasing, and the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning is critical. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) is the surface management solution that will provide NextGen Air Traffic Control capabilities to improve air traffic operations in the National Airspace System (NAS). The Terminal Flight Data Management (TFDM) program is a Federal Aviation Administration s (FAA) NextGen program based on airport surface management provides that efficiencies for both the airport surface and terminal airspace by providing a new and comprehensive integrated surface traffic control and management system. 

TFDM functions include: Surface Collaborative Decision making (SCDM), departure scheduler and other airport decision tools Electronic Flight Data (EFD); Enhanced Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) Replacement or integration of multiple systems in the National Airspace System (NAS). TFDM will share data among: controllers, aircraft operators, and airports so they can better stage arrivals and departures and manage traffic flow within terminal airspace for greater efficiency. Stakeholders will have a shared awareness of flights on the ground and in the air, the ability to exchange data electronically, with the goal of a continuous real-time picture of traffic volume and airport resources, making flights more efficient from gate to gate. 

*This position is in our Gaithersburg, MD office 3 days a week and 2 days a week from home office*

Roles & Responsibilities: 

  • Resolve all build dependencies including SW/COTS/FOSS to get a successful build 

  • Manage the cross-team dependencies by identifying, helping resolve dependencies in a timely fashion

  • Manage SLOC growth by working with the teams to identify SLOC growth ahead of time and help the teams manage SLOC 

  • Help management with validating and providing actual SLOC at the end of each release 

  • Manage the Build Release Plan including movement of features from one Release to another and responsible for working through Engineering Change Process to update Baseline Build Release Plan. 

  • Responsible for running the Scrum of Scrums meeting and help work to remove impediments/roadblocks that are impacting the product team s ability to meet the Build/Release Plan with Product Team Management and Deputy CE Leads Responsible/Ownership for Release Planning events prior to the start of each Release 

  • Help teams perform efficiently by identifying/implementing necessary scripts to automate the tasks in development tools as much as possible Manage team defects by identifying, validating defects periodically and guiding the teams create defects as and when needed 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and 5 years of related experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a lead capacity

  • Must having thorough working knowledge with at least 3 of the following: Java, Python, shell scripting, Ansible

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management

  • Experience using Agile lifecycle management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally

  • Full life-cycle Software Development experience

  • Candidate must be able to obtain/maintain a Public Trust, which requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residency

  • Good communication skills

  • Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to fast-paced and highly productive work environment

  • Air Traffic Knowledge and experience working on Air Traffic programs
