Job description

The Breast Cancer Center of the Brown University Health Cancer Institute has an opening for a fellowship trained breast surgeon or surgical oncologist. Working primarily at Rhode Island Hospital you will join one of the busiest cancer centers in New England. There is the opportunity to work at one of our other sites in Rhode Island or Southeastern Massachusetts if desired.

  • Join 4 other breast surgeons, 3 experienced APPs and 2 multidisciplinary care coordinators
  • Schedule is roughly 2 clinic days, 2 days in the OR, half day in the multidisciplinary clinic and time for teaching and research
  • The Center treats 700 breast cancer patients per year
  • Opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team that includes surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, nurse navigators, psychiatrists, social workers, pathologists, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, nutritionists, and experts in genetics, cancer research and survivorship.

•Board-certified or board-eligible in general surgery with additional training in breast surgery or surgical oncology

The Brown University Health Cancer Institute offers a comprehensive range of procedures for the surgical treatment of breast cancer. The Breast Cancer Center of the Brown University Health Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital and Newport Hospital, the Breast Care Center at Morton Hospital, and the Robert F. Stoico/FIRSTFED Center for Breast Care at Saint Anne's Hospital offers patients the highest level of expertise in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and support.
The Department of Surgery has 12 divisions and practices at 5 Brown University Health Hospitals. Brown University Health has a growing network of over 850 providers [AP1] and offers a multitude of services that encompass medical areas such as internal medicine, emergency medicine, primary care, psychiatry and behavioral health, women's medicine, urgent care, and specialty services including cardiology, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and ophthalmology.
