Job description

Job Description:
The Student Affairs Specialist works independently to handle all administrative aspects of two Master's programs in the Department of Computer Science. The incumbent works directly with the Directors of Graduate Studies (DGS) for the Master's in Computer Science and the Master's in Cybersecurity, the Department Chair, the School of Professional Studies (SPS), and the Registrar, among other offices on campus, to implement curricular directives and mandates to meet program goals and to ensure compliance of relevant University procedures and policy.
This position works closely with the Academic Department Manager, DGSs and other staff members to ensure faculty and students, including distance learners, are supported and the programs are effectively run.
The incumbent will assist with student recruitment and orientation, track student progress and be the first point of contact for student inquiries.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of related administrative experience or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with event planning and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to use judgment and discretion while working independently or with a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize between a variety of often competing demands.
  • Client-centered orientation with impeccable customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft and Google programs.

Additional physical demands and working conditions:
  • The position requires attendance at the commencement weekend in May.
