Job description

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will function in conjunction with a medical provider to assist in the provision of professional medical care and nursing support. Duties include performing as a member of the team and assisting in the administration and maintenance of an efficiently operated clinic. May be assigned to special projects such as primary care/mental health integration or to a satellite site. The Certified Medical Assistant must demonstrate a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision and core values of BRMC. Primary responsibility will be patient flow, including:

Responsibilities:

  1. Greets and rooms patients ensuring two patient identifiers.
  2. Obtains vital signs, weight and height and any other pertinent data per center protocols.
  3. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  4. Assists in examination and treatment of patients. Performs necessary test(s) as directed by provider.
  5. Administers injections under the direction of a provider.
  6. Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for lab.
  7. Assists with nursing visits including but not limited to the following: blood pressure readings, medicine reviews, etc.
  8. Documents all patient care provided in the patients’ electronic health record.
  9. Assists with routine maintenance activities including but not limited to the following: cleans equipment, stocks exam rooms, organizes clinical work area, etc.
  10. Participates in performance improvement activities in accordance with applicable standards.
  11. Performs other necessary duties as assigned by the Clinical Nurse Manager or DON to meet the goal of providing quality health care services.
