Job description

Job Summary:

The Staff Physician is a board certified, or board eligible, licensed independent practitioner who devotes his/her professional services to the benefit of Blue Ridge Medical Center (BRMC) and seeks to incorporate all his/her medical activities into the practice of BRMC. Physician provides patient-centered quality health care within a community-based setting and strives to improve general health and well-being through prevention, education and treatment. Activities involve direct patient care, physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment, provision of preventive care, referral for specialty services as needed and follow-up. Will devote professional services to the benefit of BRMC and seek to incorporate all clinical activities into the practice of the BRMC. The Physician and BRMC will negotiate any agreement for medical practice outside of BRMC, providing such practice does not interfere with the physician’s obligations to the Center. May be assigned to special projects such as primary care/mental health integration or to a satellite site. Demonstrates a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision and core values of BRMC.

Essential Job Duties & Functions:

1. Provides medical services to patients of BRMC. Such services are provided primarily at the BRMC facility in Colleen, Virginia, but will include services at other locations within its service areas from time to time as agreed by BRMC and the Physician.

2. Performs his/her duties faithfully, to the best of her/her ability, and in accordance with the standards of ethics and professional conduct applicable to doctors.

3. Responsible for providing clinical consultation to staff Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as needed.

4. Provides on-call coverage after hours and on weekends. Such call is rotated equally among the entire provider staff.

5. Observes and complies with the organizational structure as adopted by BRMC Board of Directors respecting performance of his/her duties and to carry out the policies of BRMC as they are applicable to him/her.

6. Maintains and updates medical records on all BRMC patients.

7. Takes an active role in promotion and development of the practice in such activities as are found mutually agreeable to the physician and BRMC as communicated by the administrator.

8. Responsible for teaching nurse practitioner students, medical students, and other students as designated.

9. Works together with practice team to care for patient, offering direction to the team and education to the team to improve patient outcomes and team performance.

10. Takes on other responsibilities and tasks as designated and agreed upon by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.

Compensation Range: $225,000 Annually
