Job description

If the answer is yes, then you know the Chesterman Company! We are an independent Coca-Cola Bottler with our corporate office located in Sioux City, Iowa. We have been making quality beverages for the Midwest since 1872 and supplying them from 14 distribution centers across Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
Position Summary: To ensure that the overall quality of the beverage meets franchiser standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Must be familiar with laboratory equipment, execute testing procedures correctly, and document all test results.
  • This position performs daily quality control testing to ensure a quality product is being consistently produced at all times
  • Performs a variety of routine testing pertaining to carbonated soft drinks and packaged water, including: carbonation, brix, pH, titration, sensory testing, weight of cans/bottles, tasting of product for conformity and more
  • Inspect cans for date codes, packaging, dents, scratches, and punctures to ensure they are acceptable
  • Technician can troubleshoot inconsistencies with equipment
  • Technician ensures accuracy of all measuring devices, including their calibration
  • Performs microbiological analysis of products, water, and environment with sterile techniques
  • Performs surface testing to ensure sanitary practices
  • Able to record data correctly and enter the information into the internal database
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

Education/Experience:
  • High-School Diploma/GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Prior laboratory experience and/or Education in Biology/Microbiology preferred
  • Quality/Food Safety Training preferred

Work Environment: Works in a laboratory area in a production environment. Ear protection is required in production areas. Must wear hair/beard net in designated areas. Jewelry is not allowed in Quality Control Department.

Job Status: Full Time
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday with occasional weekends. 4pm-2am
