Job description

Bridgewater College is seeking a full-time Grounds Technician to help maintain the beauty, safety, and appearance of our campus. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in a job well done, and appreciates being part of a team that helps create a welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors.
This position generally works 38 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and weekend hours as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Maintain campus lawns and green spaces through mowing, edging, watering, fertilizing, and weed control
  • Perform reseeding, aerating, dethatching, patching, and sodding of turf areas
  • Plant, maintain, trim, and remove trees, shrubs, and other landscape materials
  • Care for flower beds and landscaped areas, including planting, mulching, watering, and seasonal maintenance
  • Remove leaves, debris, and litter from campus grounds
  • Help maintain the appearance of sidewalks, parking lots, building entrances, and other outdoor spaces
  • Operate and perform basic maintenance on mowers, trimmers, tractors, trucks, and other grounds equipment
  • Assist with furniture moves, campus events, and other facilities-related projects as needed

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with snow and ice removal, including operating equipment and applying ice-melt products
  • Support campus operations during weather events and other special situations
  • Contribute to a safe and well-maintained campus environment

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds
  • Dependable work ethic and attention to detail

PREFERRED:
  • Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, lawn care, or athletic field maintenance
  • Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment
