In the role of Unit Manager- Utilities working in Elkton, VA you will be part of the Brewery Utilities team. You will be responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring, and motivating an overall operation team for the effective safe operation, quality, asset care, and optimization of brewery utilities.  

You will ensure high quality products are produced cost effectively and safely through standardized work practices and process optimization, manage brewery process safety management, and utilize World Class Supply Chain principles and work practices to contribute to the world class standards of operation. 

This position reports to the Sr. Manager Technical Services and works closely with asset care teams, process leaders, and other brewery staff. 

What You'll Be Brewing: 

  • Most importantly, you will lead a team of talented colleagues, and support their growth and development through career discussions and consistent one on one conversations
  • Ensures operating and process control by monitoring performance and process capability and accuracy of operation 
  • Manages asset care of utilities equipment and operation by ensuring the administration and maintenance of the asset care program, and coaching the team members to ensure sufficient maintenance schedules are carried out 
  • Ensures the highest quality standards, and that quality is placed above production targets 
  • Delivery costs and productivity, leads and supports problem solving, and drives continuous improvement 
  • Leads team performance, talent, and career management, and creates a culture of employee engagement 
  • Lead site sustainability initiatives and projects focused on reducing energy consumption, water usage, emissions, and environmental impact.

Key Ingredients: 

  • Partner with Environmental Compliance team to ensure compliance with wastewater, water and PSM regulations, including permit management and regulatory reporting.
  • Champion and manage electrical and process safety programs, including medium-voltage systems, ammonia refrigeration, arc flash protection, and critical safe work practices. 
  • You are an authentic leader.  You value and respect differences and believe everyone's unique differences is the key to collaboration and a winning team culture
  • Possess a proven track record of achievement in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment 
  • You have a bachelor's degree in manufacturing/technical, or equivalent experience; advanced degree in business management, project management, or engineering preferred 
  • You have a minimum of 8 years' experience in manufacturing operations in utilities 
  • You have practical and theoretical knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and administration of natural gas/fuel oil fired boilers and steam generation, turbine generators, high/medium/low voltage distribution systems, compressed air system, CO2 collection, purification and distribution system, ammonia refrigeration system, area dehumidification system, hot water systems, fire protection system, water treatment system, wastewater treatment system and sanitary sewer monitoring
  • Demonstrable evidence of driving World Class Supply Initiatives to deliver on challenging objectives

Job Posting Total Rewards Offerings: $111,900.00 - $146,900.00 (posting salary range) + 15target short term incentive + $23,000 on average spent on benefits per employee, including but not limited to health, dental, vision, retirement with above market employer match, wellness incentives and EAP + paid time off (including holidays, vacation days and sick days).


The posting range provided above for salary is what we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We ultimately pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors that inform pay decisions including but not limited to the required work location, previous work experience, skill set and internal equity.
