Job description

About the Role

Armada is looking for a Senior Brand Writer to shape how the company sounds across every surface where words matter. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this is a craft role for someone who can write a five-word headline that lands, then turn around and write a thousand words of balanced, on-brand product copy. You will own the voice of the brand and partner closely with creative, product, and executive leadership to bring it to life.

The ideal candidate echoes Armada's quiet confidence. Restraint over flourish. Specificity over abstraction. A point of view that doesn't need to raise its voice.
You understand intuitively what separates real writing from AI-generated content.

This role is a true generalist. You can quickly pivot from web copy for a new product launch, to a whitepaper, to a social post. You will go deep on our products, learn the technical substance, and translate it into words that customers, partners, and prospects want to stop and read.

Above all, you know how to find the human story inside a complex product. Our customers are people solving hard problems in hard places, and their pain points are what bring our products to life on the page.

Location. This role is office-based in San Francisco, CA office.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Write razor-sharp headlines, taglines, and brand-level copy that define how Armada shows up in the world
  • Develop long-form product narratives, web copy, and marketing collateral that translate complex edge computing and AI infrastructure into clear, compelling stories
  • Shape the narrative of sales and investor decks
  • Draft press releases, executive communications, and other earned media materials in support of Armada's communications strategy
  • Support social channels with original writing that maintains brand voice across formats
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure copy and design are developed in lockstep, not as separate handoffs
  • Develop and maintain Armada's brand identity, and help others across the company write in our voice

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of copy writing experience in brand, marketing, editorial, or agency settings
  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrating range across headlines, long-form product copy, decks, and editorial writing
  • Sharp instinct for what to cut. You know when one word does the work of five
  • A clear point of view on what good writing is, paired with the humility to take feedback and make it better
  • An excellent listener who can absorb raw input from stakeholders and shape it into a story with a clear through-line
  • Range. You can shift registers when the brand or the moment calls for it. A product launch, a recruiting page, and a field deployment story should all read differently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple writing projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Experience on both sides of the table: time spent at an advertising or branding agency, paired with in-house work at a technology company
  • Experience writing for technical or deep-tech companies (infrastructure, defense, hardware, AI)
  • Experience collaborating directly with executives on speeches, op-eds, or thought leadership
  • Familiarity with using AI tools as a drafting and research aid, while maintaining a clear line between machine output and finished writing

Compensation & Benefits

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.  In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision (subsidized cost)
  • Health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), and dependent care FSAs (DCFSA)
  • Retirement plan options, including 401(k) and Roth 401(k)
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO)
  • 14 paid company holidays per year
