Description
Summary: The Recreational Coordinator serves as direct support to assist participant in educational progression, sports activities and their youth and community development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the sports, recreation components of the SNL
  • Follow-up and maintain a core group of 30 participants to receive wrap around services.
  • Manage the gym during SNL sessions
  • Create lesson plans pertaining to multiply sports
  • Supervise coaches.
  • Coordinate sports and youth development workshops.
  • Provide weekly numbers to leadership.
  • Attend trainings and meetings scheduled by CCCS and DYCD.
  • Attend staff meetings

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time position in the evenings and on the weekends during the school year. Working hours: 7pm to 9pm Thurs &Fri Saturdays 4pm-10pm year-round. Additional hours may be required to meet deadlines, participant needs or unscheduled events that arise.
Working conditions and physical demand required:
A employee's success and the demands of the position are essential in following areas: adhere to all the above-mentioned responsibilities, overseeing and ensuring safe environments for all participants, be willing and able to adapt to changes from the norm, use public transportation on field trips and be exposed to weather conditions.
Qualifications:
Education, experience and documentation required:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred minimal High School Diploma
  • Strong knowledge of sports and recreation, minimum of one year's experience in organizing tournaments and working with youth.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Up to date physical and TB test.
  • 3 Written references

Skills, Licenses and or competence required:
  • Commitment to the Mission and Vision of Catholic Charities Community Services Archdiocese of New York
  • Must maintain or complete school in a academic standing; verify transcript.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability
