A Brand Strategy Internship is a temporary position that allows students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in helping companies develop and implement strategies to build and manage their brand identity. Interns typically assist with market research, competitor analysis, campaign planning, and the creation of branding materials. This role gives interns practical exposure to branding concepts, marketing strategies, and cross-functional teamwork within a company's marketing or branding department.

Opportunity Overview
This role sits at the center of brand execution - translating strategy into action. You will partner closely across all company functions, bringing brand plans to life across innovation, in-market execution, owned social media, and business performance tracking. From analyzing business trends and leading key initiatives to supporting new product launches and promotional programs, you will help ensure the brand delivers against both short- and long-term objectives.
A marketing role at Barr Brands offers a unique opportunity to gain full end-to-end business exposure. Unlike larger, more specialized CPG marketing teams, this role is intentionally broad in scope. You will operate with a general manager mindset - contributing to brand strategy and execution while also engaging in pricing, margin and cost optimization, sourcing, production, and sales support. You will regularly present plans and recommendations to senior leaders across functions.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys problem solving, thrives in details and execution, wants to own projects end-to-end, and is eager to build strong foundational skills in both brand and general business management. This role is ideal for someone who is energized by broad business exposure, enjoys working across functions, and takes pride in owning both the strategy and the details required to drive results.
What You'll Do
  • Support and track delivery of sales and profit targets by executing key elements of the annual brand plan.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Research & Development, Finance) to execute new product launches, packaging updates, cost savings initiatives, and product improvements.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, details, and deliverables are executed with precision and accountability.
  • Support development of annual brand planning, media plans, advertising, and creative assets to ensure alignment with brand strategy.
  • Own and manage brand-owned social media platforms, including content planning, execution, and performance tracking; partner with internal teams and external agencies to develop engaging content that supports brand objectives and drives consumer engagement.
  • Support market research initiatives and innovation development, including both qualitative and quantitative studies, to deepen understanding of consumers and category dynamics.
  • Analyze sales data, category trends, and competitive activity to identify risks and opportunities; translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Develop regular business performance reporting, synthesizing data into clear, concise updates for leadership.
  • Identify emerging brand issues and proactively recommend solutions or interventions.

What You Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Marketing or related field preferred.
  • Early career experience in marketing, brand management, or related field preferred (internships or full-time).
  • Strong analytical foundation, with the ability to interpret data and apply quantitative insights to business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear messages and confidently present in person.
  • High level of ownership and accountability, with a proactive, "make things happen" mindset.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization.

Skills We Are Looking For
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to gather, interpret, and synthesize data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Strategic Thinking: An ability to see the big picture in planning and brand building; thinks through the implications and ripple effects of a decision across the organization.
  • Executional Excellence: Strong attention to detail with a focus on delivering high-quality work consistently.
  • Project Management: Organized and disciplined in managing multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communicator, capable of tailoring messages for different audiences.
  • Collaboration: Builds strong relationships across teams; works effectively in a highly cross-functional environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating change and adjusting priorities as business needs evolve.
  • A Bias For Action: Takes initiative, follows through, and holds self accountable for the results.
  • Team Orientation: Embraces a "we over me" mentality, contributing to a positive, high-performing team culture.

Your Workday World
  • Based at the Barr Brands headquarters on the edge of Germantown, TN, with a hybrid work schedule: Tuesday-Thursday in office, Monday/Friday flexible.
  • Dynamic office environment with a strong focus on collaboration and execution.
  • Role involves standard office activities including sitting, standing, and regular communication.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 10 pounds may be needed.
  • While the role is primarily in an office, there will be limited exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The position involves limited travel, up to 20%.

This position profile outlines the core responsibilities expected in this role. However, it is not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the team and our goals.
